My Scale Won't Move, Help!

Recommended Posts

I'm getting really frustrated. I know it's normal to stall when you go from mushies to real food, but my scale hasn't moved in weeks. I've lost 26lbs since surgery (july 10th) and I'm not upset about that, but the scale just froze! I mean, it hasn't moved an ounce in two weeks. I'm eating right. 3 meals, small amounts of the right foods, no Snacks, lots of Fluid, I just don't get it. Any advice out there??

what about exercise?

Don't worry. The scale will move. It can't help it because with the sleeve we eat so little bit. Your body is just adjusting to it's new weight until it decides it's ready to give some more up. It's normal.

Two weeks is about right for the 3 week stall.

I actually know people whose entire weight loss went in two week chunks. They'd lose for two weeks, then stall for two week and repeat. That would have driven me crazy!

Whenever mine slowed down, I would look at my logs and there would always be something in there I could improve... drink more Water, consume more Protein, exercise more ... so I'd do that and it would pick back up again.

I stalled for about 2-2 1/2 weeks when I moved to solids. However, I remained very active during that time and then about 5 lbs fell off all at once! I notice every week or two, I stay the same for a few days or even gain a pound. This happened this week and then today I was 3 lbs less than my last "official" weigh-in. Just keep doing the right things, get your Protein, drink your Water, and make sure to get your body moving and it will start coming off again. Congrats on your current weight loss!

This happened to me too. The scale froze about 5 days after I got off liquids. It froze for about two weeks, then when I realized I was close to getting dehydrated, I started drinking a lot more Water, and it went up about 3 pounds. I kept up with my water, and a few days later, those 3 pounds came off, but the scale never moved down again. I stalled for almost 4 weeks. It started moving again a few days ago and I have lost about 6 pounds since the stall. We shall see if I will be one of those that has a two week stall, then a loss. That will DEFINITELY drive me nuts!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
