Awesome NSV - Must Share With You Guys!!

Recommended Posts

NSV means Non scale Victory. It is a good/happy feeling from something besides the results we see on the scales.

Thanks for enlightening me Carol. I need a dictionary for some of these abbreviations!

It's a fantastic feeling to put an item of clothing on (particularly one that you would never have dared tried before) and find that it fits and you look and feel gorgeous in it! And regardless of what the scales say!

And a message to all the newbies starting out - even though it feels at times that the scales aren't moving or you are stresing as the weight loss seems slow at times, IT WILL HAPPEN. Just hang in there, respect your stomach and your diet and look forward to meeting the new you!

WOOO HOOO!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I know how WONDERFUL that feeling is!! My first "real" shopping trip was sooo exciting... able to buy clothes that fit and actually felt good to wear!

I just wemnt shopping again, all my pants were getting tooo baggy in the butt and legs.... I am now a 16... and can wear a 14!!! I still can't believe it!

And yep... I'm not buying at full price either... also bought 2 pair of 12's ( ha ha.... imagine that!! ) for 8 bucks for both of them at Kohl's ( my NEW BFF!!)

I am still walking around smiling. I guess, because all of my clothes were so baggy on me, that it also covered up how much weight I have lost. Because now that I am wearing clothes that actually fit, I am getting all kinds of comments from people on my weight loss. I tell you, this is one of the best feelings ever!

Susan...

It just keeps getting better and better!!!:wink0:

When I bought cloths that finnaly"fit"... Oh my did the compliments start coming!

I work in retail, and even some of my customers were commenting!

I would run into people I hadn't seen in months, they would take a double look and say they almost didn't reconize me!

It just gets better and better!!

Another interesting thing is how other people react to you as well. Now I get men looking at me appreciatively instead of in disgust, but as well as that people just treat you completely differently on the whole. It's absolutely wrong and I abhor the way people are judged on looks alone, BUT it is nice to be treated as an intelligent human being instead of being regarded as thick just because I have an issue with food.< /p>

Men don't look at me differently. I think they see me as a pal and still do. But people -- of both sexes -- are MUCH nicer to me. That surprised me.

I shopped a lot in the thrift stores. I have found clothes that were like brand new for $2.

I wore clothes that were huge on me until I lost about 40 lbs and they were literally falling off me.

It's so much fun when people keeping making comments on weight loss. I have really been at this weight for over 2 years

because I lost it with the band and then got revision, but people still ask me if I am still losing weight.

I am lucky that I hate to shop or I would be spending a lot of money.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
