do you FEEL like you have to pee

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a question. Ever since my surgery, I have not felt the urge to urinate. Before, in the mornings, I'd always have that pushing feeling on my bladder that told me, "uh-oh I've got to pee." But since my sleeve, I have not once had that feeling. Maybe I'm not drinking enough, but I do drink right before bed, and after 6 - 8 hours of sleep, I feel like I should FEEL like I need to pee, but don't. I guess you could say I just KNOW when to pee, but never get that push on my bladder. Is this normal?

I was just thinking the same thing, and I've noticed the same thing. I wake up, but do not have a huge sense of urgency to urinate. I get up and still go tinkle, but it isn't like before when I was running to the toilet.

I don't get that uncomfortable, got to go, got to go right now.

I am so glad you posted this. I was thinking about this a few days ago. Since surgery, I haven't EVER felt the need to pee. I used to get up first thing hurting because I had to go so bad. Now I get up and forget to go sometimes... then when I do I'm like, "Wow! I didn't realize I had that much in there!"

Kinda weird!

Count me as surprised that my peeing urges have changed too. I am surprised that I do not have that "oh, oh" feeling in the morning, but some of my pees are real long. Plus mine go from the bright yellow to the dull yellow. I drink my full 64 ounces, or more, each day. TMI, I know. But I am also glad to see I am not alone in this change.

I am just the opposite. I have to go all the time. I have a bladder disease called interstitial cystitis and it's very painful if my bladder is not empty.

Count me in too - in fact before the surgery I was taking Enablex for an overactive bladder ... I haven't taken it since surgery - haven't needed it. I know I'm getting in enough fluids because the color is good; however, I never get the "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go" feeling any longer - and I have to say it's VERY nice not to have that.

I don't know if anyone remembers but I am actually enrolled in a study now to measure how our nervous system changes after VSG, specifically the sympathetic nervous system. This is one of the systems that can have an effect on the urge to urinate. It can shut it off when you need to run from a bear or fight with your spouse lol.

This is being studied. You guys are not alone. It is most likely a change in your nervous system. We still don't fully understand everything the hormones produced by the stomach do (or so my study doctor says).

I should be taking that but I decided against it. I was hoping losing weight would make it better. I just love peeing a little 5 times a night. Makes for a long damn night. I am known as the pee queen at work because I am always needing to run and pee, before meetings, during meetings, after meetings.

I am sure the surgery in general will help as you won't be getting in as much fluids in the beginning and by the time you are able to get in lots of fluids, you will have lost weight so that will help as well. I was only on the 7.5 mg and it did the job, so I never had to increase it -- if I start to have the problem again down the road, I will definitely get back on it - it really helped. Good luck I hope the surgery works for you!

I've had the same experience. In fact, the other night I had to go like 4 times in about 4 hours and I was SHOCKED! I also usually have very little volume. I wish I had been like this when I was standing in a classroom all day!

Hey CYATES -- glad to see you posting again ... how was Israel (that is where you went isn't it)?

Same here, I never have to get up in the night anymore, and seldom, if ever, feel like I have to rush to the bathroom.

It is back-to-school time - no rest or free time right now! I'm trying to figure out when I can go back down for my 3 mo check up! We went to Lebanon for 3 weeks. It was hot, humid, and CROWDED since everyone was there on vacation. I loved the sea and the mountains - but I'm glad to be home. How are you?

Okay- here's another question. Has anyone had a urinary infection since the surgery, and if so, have you felt any of the symptoms? I am proned to urinary infections (most likely from sex). I am wondering if I have one now because of an odor I smell that I have smelt when I've had infections (sorry to be graphic). But here's the thing, I don't feel any symptoms of a urinary infection. In the past, I'd be in pain when I'd pee and I'd have to pee every 2 seconds. But I feel nothing now. I'm wondering if all my nerves are shot and I just can't feel if something is wrong down there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
