Just don't feel like another protein drink

Recommended Posts

Have you been having Soup? A lot of people put cottage cheese in Tomato Soup to bump up the Protein.< /strong>

You should be able to on mushie foods now, and there are a lot of choices for soft mushy food.< /strong>

I'm with ya blues:001_rolleyes: I'm having food envy:drool5:...LOL. The Tomato Soup and cottage cheese is a great start. I'm 2 weeks out and do a protien shake in the morning, Soup (tomatoe or 99% fat free chicken broth which really tasty)

For me it's getting some other taste besides the "sweet" from protien drinks. I also bought unflavored protien power from a health food store and put that in my Soups as well. I"ve put clam chowder in my bullet adn it was really good. The only suggestion I would give is to let it set as it has a lot of "air" in it after being blended. I'm also eating string cheese and chewing the heck out of it....

Don't forget we need to change our thinking...remember, right now is a temporary moment in time...remember how good you are going to feel. I know that I personally am going through some grief about not being able to eat when I'm stressed or need some comfort...this journey is making me deal with that issue...

WE ARE GOING TO DO GREAT AND WILL GET PAST THIS OKAY:001_tt2:

Although some thought it sounded gross and others really liked it -- I blended cottage cheese and an egg with just a smidgen of mayo when I was on full/mushies -- added a touch of pepper and it gave me a lot of Protein and a different taste - I couldn't do (and still can't do) the Protein Drinks - they are way way too sweet for me still 2 months out. Egg drop Soup with tofu is really good too - I posted that recipe as well.

I'm still pre-VSG but trying out recipes. Try putting 3.5 ounce diced up roasted chicken breast minus skin (I use Sam's roasted chicken) in your blender, with 1 cup of fat free milk. Liquify well. Strain it through a strainer to remove any lumps if you are up to the blenderized/soft foods stage. Heat it up in the microwave. Voila, cream of chicken Soup. Easy. Fast. Delicious. Enough for multiple meals. Can be frozen and used later.

I plan to make some and freeze it in ice cube trays for after I have my surgery. Then all I'll need to do is heat it up! (Not allowed on Clear Liquids phase.) Total Prot=40gm Carb=13 Fat=45 Cal=253

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
