Nanna- If I might ask, what was the drain for? My doc didn't mention anything about having a drain. I'm confused. Thanks for sharing! I loved your paraphrase of the WORD and I never thought of it that way. I'll definately look that one up and post it on my fridge! Bless you through your recovery period! I am scheduled 9/24 and still so nervous.

My doctor is one of three in his office that do gastric surgeries and according to the nurse he's the only one who leaves the drain in for a week. I had to empty it and record the amount twice a day. Vegas was right as far as draining excess Fluid and he said it also helped to look out for a leak. My husband was with me when they took it out. He said it looked like a magician pulling out the never-ending magic scarves. lol

It was just bothersom. Glad to be rid of it.

Congratulations on your date! You'll be glad you did it! I'm 9 days out and feel amazing. Walked almost 2 miles this morning. Yea!

Great story, it's so important to share, so we all don't feel alone on this journey. Everything went great for me until I got home and had to bathe my dirty kitten and blow dry him (long haired persian) and our hot Water heater broke this morning. Besides that....life is good :-))) Keep up the good work!

I have a long-haired, four-legged baby too. He's 13, black and white and about 15 pounds. He's been so upset with me because I haven't been picking him up. The doctor said nothing over 5 pounds for two weeks. He hasn't been that light since he was a kitten.

Coinsidence too, we just replaced the old Water heater not too long ago. Thank goodness it's in the garage and didn't created too much of a mess. Now something on the central heat/air has gone out. Not a good thing during the month of Aug. in Tennessee. Ahhh, the joy of home ownership.

Vegas, how are your spasms doing? Are you eating more than mushies now?

WOW -5 lbs. really? Dr. Aceves said nothing over 15 lbs. for the first six weeks ... yikes!

My spasms, I believe are getting better -- or I am learning to work around it perhaps. I have found that as long as I stick with warm liquids in the morning until about 11 am, that I don't have as much trouble eating lunch and dinner. I've also found that whatever I do eat needs to be pretty moist or it doesn't work -- I tried a potatoe skin one day at a going away luncheon for a friend and after 3 bites I couldn't eat anymore - it was stuck. I guess they were too dry. So I pretty much still stick with mushies and venture onto solids cautiously.

Thank you so much for asking!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
