Hi, Alisia. You'll do fine. I had my surgery Thurs. (13th) and just got home late yesterday. Had a few minor bumps with med reactions and nausea. But all is good! Down 22 pouns since my consultation in June!I was very nervous too. Just take a lot deep breaths and think about where you'll be by Christmas. Congrats on your big day and I'll keep you in my prayers.

You are in our thoughts and prayers Alisia - congratulations - you've had a long, hard road in getting to this point - I am so happy for you that you stuck with it. Keep us posted how you're doing when you can. God Bless.

I had similar med reactions Nanna. My surgery was last Tuesday. I stayed a second night to make sure it was all worked out. My advice...if they offer you an extra day in the hospital...take it! Better to get the meds worked out there where they can monitor you.

Can't wait to hear how it goes. You'll do fine and we will all support you through your post op liquid stage, like everyone supported us. The post op diet is not fun, but necessary and you are welcome to complain and say how sick you are of it.

I hope you have an easy recovery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
