Hello everyone, I am LizzyM and new to this site. I am an old timer on the OH boards, but still pre-op. My surgery of choice,of course is the vsg with Dr. Aceves. I have read so many positive things about him on both boards which helps me in knowing I have chosen a great surgeon. My surgery is Sept. 30, any one else near or on that date? I will be coming from Ohio to Mexicali. I am very excited! Hope to make many new friends here.

Liz

Welcome Lizzy - we are so happy you are here. You have made an excellent choice in choosing Dr. Aceves. IMO he is absolutely wonderful. You might go to the september sleevers and see who else is scheduled with Dr. Aceves at or around the same time as you.

Admittedly, I am the oddity here having had my surgery done in Flint, MI. But welcome anyway! Good group, lots of knowledge, and the sleeve has been very, very good to me. Best of luck.

There are an awful lot of us who had surgery by Dr. Aceves. I plan to go back there in Oct. and have all my post op lab work done and an Upper GI.

Welcome to our board.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes! It'll take me a while to figure out how to navigate the site for sure. My best to all of you!

Hi Lizzy

I will be having my surgery the day after you. Flying out of Louisville, Ky. on Sept 30th and surgery on Oct. 1st.

My hubby will be coming with me. Are you going alone?

I can't wait to meet you.

Maybe we can talk in the chat room.

Hey Lizzy welcome :thumbup:I'm fairly new here too. My surgery is Monday in Green bay Wisconsin. I found this group so helpful to me already! You will too, I am still struggling to navigate this site, so don't feel bad!:confused1:

I think this board is very easy to navigate. It's all divided up into whatever section you are interested in.

If you click on User Cp it will bring you back to whatever threads you have posted in.

I find the other board really hard to find my threads that I am interested in reading.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
