Hi Luv - welcome to the VST family .... you will find all kinds of support here - never ever hesitate to ask a question, as someone will more than likely have a response for you and everyone can learn from other's experiences.

As for Dr. Aceves - IMO you couldn't have made a better choice - he and his staff are absolutely amazing. I work with doctors all the time and he is the most compassionate doctor I have ever encountered. You will be in GREAT hands!

Thank you all for your words and welcoming me.

I do already have a question, I am a diabetic type 1 and have been one for almost all my life. Who of the forums has type 1 and are there certain things I need to watch for when it comes to my bloodsugars?

Luv

HI and welcome to the family. I'll be watching for updates from you, and any questions you may have ask away.

I'm not well versed on the diabetes stats out there. Hopefully, someone will chime in soon ! ! !

Oh, I will never stop loving food. What I will do is look at my portions a whole new way. I have always eaten well, believe it or not, but it has always been a portion issue with me. If one is good, three must be better! As far as diabetes, I was pre (6.5), so I hope I am dodging a bullet.

My friend who got the sleeve at the beginning of May, was able to get off her diabetes medication.

Thanks for the responses. When you are a type 1 it is not the same as type 2. Type 1 you do not produce insulin at all anymore, so it does not matter if you loose weight, your still not going to produce insulin when your less weight or thin.

We have different issues we have to think of than type 2's. Another thing we have to watch out for is ketoacidosis. This can send type 1's into diabetic shock. I have been researching this because of all the protien and low to no carbs you eat with the sleeve.

Also, losing weight can help Type 1 diabetes. It can't cure it like it can Type II but it can make the symptoms much better.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
