PChef has her date!

Recommended Posts

Hiya all...

I went to my consult yesterday in Denver. I was there 3 1/2 hours and was overloaded by the time I left. I have a surgery date of September 24th. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I worry who will take care of my kids after hubby has to go back to work! I have plenty of friends. As some of you know, we have a special needs child that weighs 75 pounds. I lift her day in and day out. I am praying someone that helps will be able to lift her too. I know it is a lot to ask but I won't be able to do it for a while. I need to get it this done as I am just beginning to be a worthless, miserable person. Well, enough of that. I have to pray that my insurance will cover this now, when the PAR is sent in. Talk to you all later. Thanks for all of your help!

Rebekah

Yay, congratulations on getting a date! That is wonderful news. Do you have any friends, family, church friends, etc. near you who would be able to help with your children?

Congrats!

I was thinking if you have a church someone might be able to help you. Also is it possible for your husband to come home, move, and then run back to work? His employer would probably understand.

Any neighbors home all day?

Congratulations on making it through the ordeal ... I am sure that God will provide the proper people when the time is right.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
