Heard from my doctor today, my EKG found that 2 chambers of my heart are enlarged, so going in for a echo cardiogram tomorrow, they have to make sure that my heart is ok for surgery. I'm a little frustrated at that but I know that they just would rather be safe than sorry!

I start my liquids next Monday, help me I don't know what Protein Powder to buy!!!!

Cheri,

Congrats on your new date for surgery. Everything will be ok I hope with your Echo. I tried lots of different powders from Really cheap to Really Expensive, The one I found the best luck and taste with was the chocolate whey Protein from Walmart, Not only is it inexpensive but it taste ok to. Just dont smell it! It will discourage you and they all smell the same way. The first 3 days will be the hardest for you to manage or at least it was for me but after that your stomach adjust accordingly. I was sleeved in May 2008, I was 400 LBS easy.. I am now 190 and feeling great! I wish you the same success that many of us share here!

EAS vanilla and chocolate are very good, too, (at least before my surgery -now there' too sweet for me) and they aren't costly either - you can get them at Target, Wal-Mart and at Sam's Club.

Bearded also really likes Pure Protein's Cookies & Cream Protein drinks (got them at Target).

Don't buy too much because what you like before surgery you may not be able to tolerate after surgery - your tastes may change - mine definitely did.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
