Some Aceves Questions

Cajun,

The deposit is sent to a P.O. Box in Calexico, CA which is right over the border. A personal check is okay for that. The remaining balance is paid by cashier's/official check or money order when you get there. You can also pay by credit card, however there is a 3% fee for that. I'm assuming it is because it is being charged in Mexico.

Just so you know, some credit card companies charge a fee also, so check with your credit card company to know ahead of time.

Mine doesn't, but I know some do, if they do, it is usually about the same amount. 1-3%

I work as an Accountant and I know on one of our business cards the international transaction fee is 10%. Careful!

I have been wondering about how payment is done. I have heard that mail service in Mexico is very undependable. So do you mail the deposit regular mail?

How do you pay the rest? Does his office accept a personal check or do you have to take cash. I will be nervous carrying a lot of cash around for such a trip.

Will he accept credit card payment?

You mail the check to a PO Box in the US.

You pay the balance the day you have your pre-op tests in the form of a cashier's check. They do accept charge cards; however, they charge an additional fee for the use of them - I think like 3% -- get a cashier's check and you'll be safe. We've done it that way 2 times -- once for my surgery, once for Bearded's. As for the deposit, they will take a personal check.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
