Headaches the first week ?

Recommended Posts

Do you drink or eat anything at all with caffeine? Take pain relievers with caffeine? That could contribute. If you just got the sleeve, it's probably dehydration. Some gross questions: is your urine very yellow or dark? is your mouth sticky or dry? if you are indeed into something serious in terms of dehydration, you'll have to do more than plain Water. Get something with electrolytes in it, and possibly if the other questions I asked, plus the headache persist, go to urgent care tomorrow and ask for an IV. You can read up on dehydration at this link:

Try to get people who are dehydrated (even those who have been vomiting) to take in fluids in the following ways:

Sip small amounts of Water.< /p>

Drink carbohydrate/electrolyte-containing drinks. Good choices are sports drinks such as Gatorade or prepared replacement solutions (Pedialyte is one example).

Suck on popsicles made from juices and sports drinks.

Suck on ice chips.

Sip through a straw (works well for someone who has had jaw surgery or mouth sores).

I suffered headaches that first week, too. I think it was withdrawal from all the bad things we love so much - sugar and caffeine- and from such reduced calories. It did finally subside and I have not had one headache since then!

My surgery is scheduled for June 11th. I suffer from Migraines and cannot risk coming off caf. to fast. We just bought a little 4 cup coffee pot for me this weekend and will start the half caff stuff in about a week. I'm sooooo glad I found this forum and learned about this way ahead of time!! :)

Strat, when you start the 1/2 caf make sure you get a "naturally" decaffenated coffee. It will say naturally on it. If it doesnt, it is decaffenated by chemical and the chemicals themselves can cause headaches. Many brands naturally Decaf now.

I will be sure and watch for that. Thanks for the heads up! Since I have my own little coffee pot now, I may just keep on drinking the Decaf afterwards unless we're somewhere that it's not offered. Why not, right? Thank you again!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
