Smart Forme review and a tip.

Recommended Posts

So I bought one of each Smart Forme starter packs. I am trying my first Protein Drink, the Cranberry fusion. It has a pleasant, refreshing taste, and it is 15g Protein for 8oz volume, so that is nice. I have been diluting the nectar samples I have out to 20oz and so that takes quite a while to get down.

It does have a bit of a "protein" smell though. I am drinking it out of a glass and not a sipper bottle because of the small volume, and that is a nice change. But then I have to hold my breath to take a sip. So, here is my tip- I put a piece of saran wrap across 2/3 of the top of the glass, and voila! no more bothersome smell while I sip.

So there is quite an assortment of stuff with 15g protein in my boxes, and the shipping was fast. So I have some new stuff to keep me busy till Monday (full liquids! Yeah!)

That is a good idea blue. I thought about getting some of the foam cups with lids like for coffee and using those. Judy

Anything to mask that awful smell is helpful. I think that is another reason I don't do Protein Drinks.< /strong>

How do you get your Protein? I'd love to find a better way than proteinpowders!

Yes- I tried some of their Protein Bars as well (I bought the starting out packs) and they were very good. I'll have to look and see which ones I had. I haven't tried everything in the boxes, but I have been pleased with what I have tried.

The price on the starter kit is excellent. $19.99 for so many different products. It sounds like they are full size cartons of regular product?

I'm not sure if they ship to Canada but I will have to check it out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
