Until the next morning. Will ask if we can forgo that :) Maybe it is so I don't wet myself during surgery. Maybe. Or there is just a cruel med tech that enjoys inflicting pain.

I feel kinda silly posting this but here goes- did the EGD( upper endoscopy) bother anyone. I am a nurse and have been with pts during EGDs but hello I wasn't the patient!!! As long as I have drugs I think I will be okay but I am not excited about that tube going down my throat!!

I am a RN in a GI Lab. Usually in the US patients will be sedated during EGDs. The most common form of medications are Versed (the sedative to put you to sleep, also has an amnesic effect so you don't remember)and Demerol or Fentanyl (pain meds to keep you comfortable and keep you asleep). Some places also spray the back of your throat with a numbing spray. Some places may use Propofol as their sedation of choice (Yes the Michael Jackson drug). It all depends on the Docs preference.

As a nurse who has assisted with endoscopies you should know that most people do not remember anything about the proceedure. You should do fine even if you have a bad gag reflex.

Actualy it is so you don't contaminate the sterile field, or pee down the Drs leg

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
