This is a weird one but just wondered if any else has experienced this in connection to their weight loss surgery. My palms and wrists have been itching like mad for the last few days and as I have never had it before have Googled it and apart from the possibility of kidney failure, Crohns (which I am confident it's not) and dermatitis, allergic reaction etc. another cause mentioned is Vitamin deficiency, in particular Vits B12, B1 and B6. Has anyone else encountered this, out of interest? I'm not panicking as it could just be my shower gel irritating me but with just having weight loss surgery am curious as to whether a vitamin deficiency could be the cause at this early stage?

A strange one I know but any comments or theories welcomed.

Helenxxx

It's probably from that chocolate that you ate:ohmy:

Just kidding ... I haven't experienced any itching palms, so I am not of any help with this one ... I'd suggest trying another shower gel and see if it goes away ... I would think if it was your shower gel, however, other areas of your body would be itching as well. I'd take some benadryl or an antihistamine of some sort and see if that helps. Several years ago I went through a period where only my ankles and tops of my feet itched and I had to constantly use benadryl spray to keep from scratching them raw. It eventually went away and I chalked it up to stress.

My hands and wrists get itchy when I am stressed, then I get these weird "spots" It is like a round piece of skin about the size of a used pencil tip that seperates from the skin below. So it kind of looks like a small dry blister. I asked my doctor about it once and he called it a fancy name that I can't remember. It is a cousin to hives but more surface than lower in the skin like hives.

I get hives too when I am really upset and crying. They start on my cheeks and move down my chest. That is when my hands itch too.

I am wondering if you are getting deep hives from the stress your body has been under?

Could to be a reaction to the anesthesia?

OMG what if it is an allergic reaction to chocolate?? Anything, anything but that LOL!!!

No, seriously, I haven't a clue what it is but it was worth asking the question as you never know somebody somewhere may have experienced the same thing as a result of surgery. It was a long shot... I have never suffered from hives or anything like that so I don't know really and you would think that if it is shower gel or anything like that that my whole body would be affected. Maybe it's the soap when I wash my hands... Anyway, I shall try some Benadryl and see if that helps.

It can't be the chocolate...............

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
