Anyone else have trouble with eggs on mushies?

Recommended Posts

I made egg salad on mushies and it went down great. I could not eat very much, but it was easy to eat. Boiled eggs, low fat mayo or miracle whip light, and a tiny bit of mustard.

Amanda, how did you do the tuna salad? Did you put it in the blender? I like boiled eggs, but I am scared to try it after the scrambled egg fiasco.
Ok, well, I absolutely HATE eggs, an I can't even taste them in this tuna salad. I usually make tuna with apples, miracle whip, and pickles, but this is what I did the other day...it makes quite a bit, so if you aren't going to share this with someone else, you might want to half the recipe:

1-12 oz can tuna, drained (I put mine in a wire colander and kind of mashed it up while I drained it)

2 T lemon juice

1/2 t salt (next time I'm leaving out the salt)

1/4 t pepper

2 T red onions

2 T dill relish

1 garlic clove - I use minced garlic in a tube, almost like a paste

1/2 C light mayo

2 T parmesan cheese (I buy the shredded cheese)

fresh chives, to taste

2 hard boiled eggs

What I did was start with the lemon juice in a food processor, then added the onions, relish, garlic, salt, pepper, cheese, mayo, and chives (everything but the tuna and eggs). I got all those really fine then added the tuna and processed it. At that point, I put everything in a plastic container because my food processor is pretty small, then put the eggs through one of those pampered chef slicers, added that to the food processor and choppped it up extremely fine, then mixed the eggs into the tuna mixture. It's not a sweet tuna, so if that's what you like, maybe try miracle whip instead of mayo.

And that's it! I really like it and will eat it until I can't stand it anymore, lol. I only added the eggs for their Protein value, not the flavor. And tuna has 13 grams of Protein in 2 ounces, I think. Maybe it's 11 grams.

I tried scrambled eggs a few days ago, and I was so sick. Eggs and me don't get along well to begin with, but I thought I would give it a try. I'll steer clear of eggs from here on out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
