I am back home after my sleeve on Tuesday. No major problems, however, I really want this gas out of my tumm! Any suggestions?

Woot, welcome back Jill! Glad everything went well for you. As for the gas, the best thing you can do is walk it out.

Jill, So glad you are home and everything is OK. Some people on here have gotten results with their gas by applying a heating pad to the stomach or shoulder area. Give it a try it might help. Good luck with your post-diet.

This was last Tuesday, right, not yesterday? carol

Congrats Jill! Welcome home.

As for gas pains - best medicine is to WALK, WALK, WALK. A heating pad helps, sometimes so does GasX Strips (but not always for surgical gas). Good luck, it will pass eventually (no pun intended).

Thanks for your suggestions!! I have done some walking but will be doing more and will certainly try the heating pad.

Carol- my surgery was yesterday...can't believe how time flies.

Linda- love the pun....need smiles in place of gas!!

Wow! You really got out of the hospital fast!

Walking is the best way to get the gas moving.

As everyone else has said, walking is really the best way to get the gas moving. For me, I had surgery on a Tuesday & didn't start getting relief from the gas until Thursday. But once it started moving & working it's way out, I felt SOOO much better!

Glad to hear you are doing well!

Congrats. Just wondering who was your surgeon, im in the Houston TX area. By the way, like everyone said ambulating is the best way to relieve gas, believe it or not.

I am feeling much better! Thanks to all. The walking helped a great deal. Now if my headache, slight nausea, and running back and forth to the restroom (if you get my drift) would end I would be great!! I am also tired (noticed this conversation on another thread) so I am trying get as much rest as I can before my hubby has his surgery this coming Tuesday. We have two kiddos, a seven- and two-year old, who run us ragged and our primary motivation to have the surgery.

Dr. Matthew St. Laurent out in Cypress is our surgeon. We absolutely love and respect him!

Fluids in, fluids out .. it will subside and if it's too bad, take some Immodium.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
