Ive lost a total of 27 pounds, its been slow lately ( I was stuck at 258 for 3 weeks) Ive had two fills and I have some restriction, but not enough.

I am so excited as all of my summer outfits are starting to fit and some even too big. I am very dissapointed no one in my office has noticed that Im shrinking. so Im starting a lottery, the first person to say ask if I have lost weight is going to get a dollar for every pound!!

Hi everyone,

I'm doing OK. I'm down 46lbs and this was the first week I didn't lose anything (must admit it was disappointing after the euphoria of watching scale go down). I am most definitely ready for a second fill. I don't have any restriction and it's not easy stopping myself from eating that one more bite when I know I've had enough.

Maybe it's because I have so much to lose (still got 120lbs to go), but no-one has noticed my loss and all my clothes etc still fit me pretty well. I'm hoping that from now on things might shrink a bit! :nervous

Apart from that me and Elpeatha (my band) are getting on great and my sugar levels (am diabetic) love her to bits!

I was banded 3/3 and have lost a total of 28lbs. I have felt pretty good and have has 2 fills to date. The first fill (1.6 cc's) was ok. A little restricted at first, but that went away pretty quickly. The last fill I had (1 cc) has made it a little tougher restriction wise. I have really been able to feel it and actually has my first PB experience this past week. Not fun, but not horrible either. I did feel much better afterwards. I am still learning what I can and cannot tolerate. People have noticed my loss and let me tell you that there is nothing better than to have someone say that you are looking good and that they can tell a huge difference. Everyone in my office knows about my surgery as I am the 3rd person there to have lapband surgery and the 6th overall to have WLS. So the support at home and at work is awesome! I am so glad I did this and would do it again in a heartbeat! I hope all of you March bandsters are doing well! Keep it up and good luck!

Kristi

Hello fellow March bandsters. I had my surgery on March 30, lost 31 pounds so far, and am FINALLY getting my first fill on Thursday. I have not felt ANY restriction since 5 days post-op but my surgeon is a stickler for waiting a full 8 weeks before giving a first fill. It's been a struggle sticking to the diet but I'm making good choices. I hope to kick start the weight loss after the first fill and am like a kid anticipating Santa's arrival waiting for that fill. LOL.

One person at work noticed I lost weight but I have a lot to lose and don't expect to have people notice yet. My clothes are fitting looser, I'm feeling better, and I'm motivated to be successful so that's all that matters now. Did anyone feel restriction with the first fill?

I was banded on 3/7. I've lost 19 pounds (as of 4 days ago). I've been pretty slow starting but have upped my Water and seem to be doing a little better. I just had my 2nd fill and am hoping I will start losing a little better.

Hey guys. I got banded on March 29, and:

- I'm sitting at about a 26 lb loss (total). (think I gained about a pound)

- I got my first fill about 11 days ago. 1cc. I've been out of town, and eating poorly, so I think that's my problem. I *think* I can eat less than before the fill... I often get a 'stuck' feeling though. Kinda sucks, but it stops me from wanting to continue to eat. I'm always sure I've chewed enough, but I guess I'm not! I'm working on that though.

- no one (who doesn't know about my band) has noticed anything. I've barely noticed anything myself. I catch myself 'feelin' up' my neck and collar bone area quite often, and I think I notice a difference there.

Some of my jeans are looser.... and tshirts are looking not so tight anymore. I'm wearing a sweater I stopped wearing 6 months ago, because it was toooo tight.. but now it's good!

- only issue would be the 'stuck'-ness. Not a huge problem, and I'm training myself!

How is your weight loss? a bit slow, only 207 at consult/203 on surgeryday/196 today, but i remain patient. 11 lbs is gone for good right?

Have you had your first fill? 2 fills, currently 1.8cc/4cc band,

Has any one noticed your shrinking? Mom and Dad say I look thinner in upper body

Complications or issues your having? Doing great, think I want to have a tiny bit more restriction, but no complications or problems.

Lets all share we are all in it together Right!! good thread idea, thanks for starting it.

Someone set me straight...it is 60 grams of Protein, ?? how many fat and carb?:)

My wt loss has slowed now, but I didn't expect to have lost this much. I am trying not to get a fill. Since I have been banded I do feel restriction. I think. I eat a cup of food at a time, which some same way to much, and some say that is fine, and then I feel pretty full. Ice cream I can just keep eating. But for the most part, I bought myself 8 ounce bowls, cause the big once mess with my mind, and I try to just eat the 8 ounces and I am satisfied. My compulsive tendencies have reared their head here and there, but not too bad. have you guys ever heard of someone not needing a fill?

My weightloss is going well, but it has been random. Nothing, nothing, 11 lbs, nothing, nothing, 6 lbs...

Banded 3/1 and I've lost just under 70 pounds since my surgery date according to my home scale.

I've had two fills, one five weeks out and another 3 weeks after. I'm debating scheduling a third - want to see how I do for another few weeks though. I still don't have anything but me limiting how much I can eat.

I have no idea of anyone has noticed or not (understanding people may notice, but not say anything or indicate they see a difference), but only people who know I had the surgery have said anything. I will take it as a true sign of change when I hear something from someone who did not know.

I'm down four sizes and all of the clothes that were too tight to wear last summer are now too big. I need to have one heck of a garage sale!

I'm not having any real issues. About 3 weeks ago I was dealing with my own version of first bite syndrome, for about 2 weeks, but that seems to have cleared up. I've had 2 PBs this month (3 total, one was right after surgery and a total accident... ssomeone put something in my Soup that shouldn't have been there & I didn't catch it until it was already going down my throat), but I'm 99.9% sure they're due to getting too relaxed & confident with my eating and either not chewing something quite well enough, or swallowing too much at one time. You know? You get a little loose, let in a little this or that because it's doing fine, then get a fill and ALL THE RULES CHANGE. AGAIN. :)

NurseMichelle, to answer your question - yes - but chances are you will not one at some point as you lose weight and the mass around your organs decreases. The band itself can cause enough restriction to fill you up faster. It did with me. I went ahead with my fill because I COULD eat more if I wanted to, and also because I figured - that's why I got the band... so on top of advice from a fellow bandster I realized that one of these days my willpower was going to fail, and it would be a good idea to have the fill there to back me up.

My weight loss has been okay. I am down 19 pounds.

I have had 2 fills and have a total of 1.5cc in a 10cc band. I will be getting a 3rd fill next week

Only people who know I have had the surgery have said anything about my weight loss. The real deal will be when my brother or sister notice.... I never told them I was having surgery(and my mom has kept the secret). I notice my shrinking because I am able to wear clothes I haven't been able to wear in a while.

I have had a couple of complications, both involved the tubing. I had emergency surgery 13 days after the placement of the lapband, to put the tubining back in place and shorten it some. The 2nd time the tubing kinked, it resolved itself within 3 days. I have had several sliming incidents(gross!!!!!) and a foaming incident(not as gross!!!) and 1 pb(not so bad).

Overall I am happy with my band, and know that she will help me reach my goal!!!!

How is your weight loss? Total lost 30 lbs (including 12 lbs preop)

Have you had your first fill? Not yet, banded in Mexico and waiting as long as I can to get 1st fill. Had a lot of swelling and restriction 3-4 weeks post-op. Now not so much, but trying to make healthier choices.

Has any one noticed your shrinking? Yes, definitely, by now almost everyone has noticed, :) they notice that it's been fast, too. My Bf said he really didn't notice,:) but I just think he's jealous!

Complications or issues your having? One week post-op I had a stuck food incident that scared me silly or shall I say straight? I think that's why I was able to lose more prior to a first fill. In fact that incident and the tightness and restriction in general is what is making me leery of a first fill. I like being able to eat fruit and salad and whole grain toast. I try to stay away from white bread. But this weekend I have been pushing it a bit, so I joined Weight Watchers to try and continue maintenance and slow loss. I bought a pedometer and I am walking more, it feels great. My blood pressure has been high, I attribute it to the high sodium Soups I was eating for weeks, and maybe just to the trauma of surgery? I'm trying to get it under control :cry

Godspeed to all the rest of the March bandsters!

Total loss 53 lbs. 13 lbs before looking into band, 17 pre-op liquid diet, the rest since being banded 3/14/06.

I've had 2 fills, 1/2 cc each in a 4 cc band, total 1 cc.

The only people that don't say much about my loss are the ones that thought paying $17,000 for WlS out of my own pocket was ridiculous. I figure they haven't said anything because they are being proven wrong. My best friend keeps telling me to go shopping because someone moved out of the back of my pants.

I've had several pb's..yuck. I think maybe I have trouble telling when I'm full. I'm still in a learning phase. Sometimes I do great...some days I eat VERY little. I'll get it right. Bottom line is...I FEEL WONDERFUL!!!

I know my doc doesn't think this is an NSV but...HE SAID I WAS LOSING A LITTLE TOO FAST...now how many times have any of us had a doc say THAT..lol

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
