Anyone experience long bouts of nausea?

I went to my doctor today and was pretty shocked. She didn't want to do anything after I told her my surgery was in Mexico. Kept saying try to call them in Mexico. She put me on phenergan and wants me to come back Friday for IV Fluids. Didn't even look at my incisions. But I left there and bought me a of ice tea. Half sweet and half unsweet. Its the first time I've had anything with sugar in it. I was able to drink the entire thing over about 2 hours and actually feel a little better. Maybe something to do with sugar, I don't know. I'm going to try really hard tomorrow and look into some of those samples mentioned.

Ruthi - hope it's nothing serious - be sure and let us know. I was going to call you in the morning, but I think I'll wait and call you tomorrow on my way home from work.

Kauser - I think I'd find another doctor if your doctor wouldn't give you the time of day - that's just crazy! Glad to hear the tea made you feel better ... maybe it was the sugar! Keep drinking it if you're able to get it down and get yourself hydrated! Keep us posted on how you're doing!

Kauser, get some of those samples so you can find something that works. I am sure that because I liked my Protein Drinks, and was able to get in a lot of Protein right from the beginning, it helped my recovery.

I second that you need to get a new doctor. If she is blowing you off just because you sought treatment in Mexico she is not a good doctor. She also should have looked at your incisions, esp if you are not feeling well, I mean hello? What if you had nasty looking incisions and needed antibiotics fast?

That makes 3, get another doctor, that one couldnt have been more unprofessional if they tried. You are better off with someone else.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
