Awesome news! It won't be long now. It is normal to be excited, scared and a hundred other emotions all at the same time. Just keep thinking about how much better you are going to feel and how worth it this is going to be.

Congrats on your surgery date. It will be here before you know it -- try to let the excitement emotion overtake all the others!

Thanks Susan and VA! I know this is the perfect thing for me, but as a nurse I tend to think too much about the complications. Sometimes knowledge is trying on the mind!

I can relate to that - I call it an occupational hazard - that is one of the reasons I didn't want to have surgery in LV -- I've worked medical malpractice for the past 6 years and seen the worst of the worst - from both sides - defense and plaintiffs - and it scared me to have surgery in LV... so I know where you are coming from!

Too much knowledge is not always a good thing is it but I think the answer is to try to push those fears to one side and focus on the benefits of the surgery and the possible consequences (heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc.) if you didn't go for it.

Good luck. You will be a 'loser' very soon. xxx

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
