? for Dr. Aceves' patients

I understand. I had the band. I still worry about expenses of revision. I know I will most likely need a revision one day and it will cost me money. It is just what we have to live with in the end.

Post op expense for problems is a genuine concern....go to someone who has proven to have rare problems with this, is about as good as you can do. Now if you have a problem and it is life threatening most insurance companies don't really have a choice but to pay for it.

Think of it this way. If you were jogging and you slipped and fell and broke your leg, do you think the insurance company could say they aren't paying because you caused it yourself while jogging? Not really. Insurance companies have to pay for people who smoke all of the time. Doesn't mean they paid for your smokes, but they still have to pay for medical necessary things.

I didn't end up in the hospital. The only time I was in the hospital was for my surgery with Dr. Aceves. He is a great surgeon and very thorough. To my knowledge he has never had any leaks. I doubt that you would have any problems; that said, I believe if you get back home and have problems and go to the ER then your insurance should cover any complications. I can't be 100% certain, but I am relatively sure.

VegasAngel,

Thanks for the input. I must have misinterpreted the spasms you have mentioned in other threads for a hospitalization. I'm sorry about that. I think that I am starting to feel a little better about it. This is going to be an adventure and a new begining to a healthier and more energetic me.

No not a hospitalization thank goodness, just a pain in the butt -- I'm finally learning to work around it -- or with it -- I'm sure you won't have any problems; however, I understand you have to consider worse-case scenario.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
