Hello All! My name is Morris and I am going to schedule my surgery (Sleeve) Monday. I have a few concerns that are really bothering me about the process. I am going to go to Mexico and have my procedure done through Be light weight, Dr. Rodriguez. What happens if I come home and have trouble? Will my regular Doctor see me? I know I should check and I plan on making an appointment with my Doctor prior, but has anyone had a problem with their PCP seeing them after the surgery? Let me know!! Thanks

Welcome! I'm having surgery with Dr. Rodriguez on July 21st, and my regular PCP will see me with no issues. If anything "major" arises though, I'll be straight to the ER..

So..with that said, lets plan for a totally uneventful surgery and recovery!

Good luck on your journey!

Dana

Hey Morris! Welcome to the forums, we are glad to have you here!

Your PCP should be willing to see when you return. And, as Dana said, if you should have an emergency, head straight to the ER. But, I am sure everything will go just fine for you.

One more thing, I have heard people say that after time, they turn to just excess skin. Anyone had the problem? I can see if you are not active (gym). Let me know!! ;-)

Honestly, I have always heard that there are a lot of factors that contribute to that. Such as your age, if you are younger, you tend to have less of a problem with that. How long you have been overweight and how many times you have gained and lost. And, of course, how much exercise you do. I believe strongly that without exercise, you will have excess, flabby skin.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
