Recommended Posts

It's almost time for me to go to the full liquid stage of my post op diet! I'd like to hear some ideas from you guys as I have no clue what to get at the grocery store.

I used GNC unflavored Protein Powder. I didn't find it changed the taste of anything i put it in. I put it in soy slender. It's in a carton not the fridge. I also love peanut butter/chocolate why gourmet that you order from Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore!. There are many Soups you can put in a blender. I used the low sodium cream of chicken. There are a lot of things you can try once you move to full liquids.< /strong>

Day 11 thru 20 ( full liquids )

Cream soups

Yogurt

Jello-O

Boiled pureed fruit ( example apple, pear) applesauce

Watermelon, papaya or melon in small pieces

Low fat milk 1 or 2%

Water, Propel, tea

Soy beverages

Sugar free pudding

Protein shakes and Protein powders mixed with milk

Frozen sf pudding is like eating ice cream. I also made egg drop Soup with tofu - it was very tasty.

If you're going to eat a lot of soup, it is probably best to get the low sodium so you don't retain any Water. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

I thought the cream of chicken was great. I also found a potato cheddar Soup at the grocery store that was delicious. I had to put it through the blender first, to liquify the little chunks of potato. It was actually so good, my family was eating it too.

Now the potato cheddar Soup sounds good! Do you remember the brand? Was it one in a can? Oh, my mouth is watering now! :drool5:

I thought I could boil my own potatoes & add in some cheese and then put it through the blender. I guess I just need to make sure it's liquid enough, right? The consistency should be of such that it could be drank through a straw???

I'm just terrified of having something that I shouldn't & then it causing problems...or worse...a leak! :scared0:

I think I really need to find an unflavored Protein powder to add to my food. I've tried unjury & didn't like it...too much of a bad smell. I guess I'll try to one at GNC as someone else here as mentioned.

I cannot remember the name, it wasn't in a can, it was in a bag. I have to go by Publix on my way home from work tonight. I will try and remember to go down the Soup aisle and get the name for you.

Thanks! I've seen a potato Soup in a bag...I bet it's the same one. I'll have to look next time I go to the grocery store.

I just had my first full liquids "meal". It was about four spoonfuls of greek yogurt. I added some honey. I'm full now.

I'm also planning on watermelon pieces (chewed well) and Soup. Trader Joe's has a selection of creamed Soups that look good. I got a Stonyfield Farm's drinkable yogurt and I'm definitely going to do smoothies, too.

I'm feeling pretty great after that yogurt. Maybe I'm not lactose intolerant? I was worried about that - because people talk about that happening even if you weren't lactose intolerant before.

I was a huge milk drinker, I really love it. But, I am one of the unfortunate ones who have become lactose intolerant since my surgery.

I made lots of Soup when I was on full liquids so that I could put in the nutrition I needed. I used lots of lentils, tons of fresh vegies, herbs like basil for flavouring, tins of tomatoes etc. I also put some meat and Pasta in there, blended it all up and thinned it with more stock to a consistency I could handle. That way I had the Protein, vegies and a little bit of carbs in there and I felt much better than living on processed liquidy crap like popsicles and pudding.

I also made fresh fruit smoothies with milk and liquidy things like apricots and peaches canned in natural juice, I'd throw in a weetbix for some fibre or some natural bran. Milk has quite a bit of Protein in it, you dont really need the Protein powder as well unless you particularly like it - I dont like the artificial sweet taste of them.

Um, what else did I have - a glass of V8 a day for another serve or two of vegies, greek yogurt, prune juice. And lots of Water.

WOW - sure wish I'd asked this question weeks ago - you've given me some great ideas on how to get in my protein - even though I am on "mushies" and will be for another 6 weeks, I am still struggling with the protein as I can't eat very much at a time ...THANKS again - I will be grocery shopping this weekend for sure! I think the lack of protein has fogged my brain and it isn't firing on all cylinders. Everything you said makes perfect sense.

Jachut always has some really good ideas. Wish I would have seen this when I was going through my liquids phase too!

Vegas, why are you on mushies for another six weeks?

I'm lactose intolerant and never have had any trouble with yogurt. I bought Campbells cheddar potatoe Soup and it was great. I also liked the Tomato Soup and the cream of chicken too.
What brand Tomato soup did you use? I love tomato soup, but I think it has some added sugars, no? I'm making my shopping list now!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
