Hi,

I am from SC and looking for anyone that has been sleeved! I am going to get this (hopefully) and was wondering how it was going with your experience. My doc is Dr. Givens in Lexington. I am jumping through the initial hoops with the insurance company.

I would love to hear from you!!

Diana

I'm planning on pulling the trigger soon but I'm still researching self-pay prices and surgeons...

anyone out there feel free to chime in with some suggestions... Mexico looks good but honestly I'd like to stay within a few hundred miles from home... with an est. budget of 11K, options seem limited...

Hi I'm from SC and had sleeve surgery on April 7th. I also was self pay and ended up going to Mexico for my surgery. After talking to the surgeons office here and information about Dr. Aceves I decided to go with Dr. Aceves. Not only was he cheaper ( I got in under the special of $8750.00), he had done WAY more sleeves than the surgeon here.I was quoted around $20,000 to have the surgery here, and by here I mean Augusta, GA since I live right on the border of GA/SC.

we're pretty close... I'm right here off of I20 about 45 miles away from you... Was the Mexico trip as simple as everyone is saying? It seems the plane trip is the biggest thing...

LOL well asking me if the trip was simple as everyone says is kinda difficult. We left Easter day, and what happened on Easter day? Earthquake. We ended up having to spend an extra night at the hotel because they pushed everyone's surgery back a day and I had to change my plane tickets, so I ended up having to spend a little extra money. They paid for the extra night at the hotel of course. There were over 150 aftershocks and "new" earthquakes. Even with all that I would do it again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
