lovecats85 2 Posted May 20, 2006 1st, I woke up this morning and my port hurts. Weirdest thing. I almost never feel my port but it's sore. Does anyone ever just randomly have port soreness? 2nd, my period is 2 weeks late but like 10 OTC pregnancy tests have said negative. I have an appt with the OB/GYN next week to see what's up. Since I got banded I had irregular periods for the 1st 4 months, but the last 2 months things have been pretty much timely and normal, but now I am late. It's hard to tell if I feel "pregnant" b/c being in law school and now studying for the bar exam, I am ALWAYS tired, moody, nauseated, etc (from all the stress). So, I guess I am wondering if anyone knows if it's possible that I could be pregnant, even though the OTC pregnancy tests have come up negative.
waterlily1072 5 Posted May 20, 2006 Well I am no expert but I have known several women who had otc pregnancy tests read false negatives, never a false positive. One women was told repeatedly by a local clinic that she was not pregnant. It took a good 8-10 weeks before she would test positive. When they did the ultrasound they discovered that she had been pregnant all along. Go figure.
seppi 0 Posted May 20, 2006 My period went a little wacky for the first 6 months after banding. But I would call the doctor and ask them to do a blood test. As far as the port goes mine will ache for no reason at all. Not always just sometimes.
JMO 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Everyone of my pregnancies (4) I knew I was prego but the test kept saying neg. I never tested pos. with a take home test till i was well into the 8th week. My 2nd child my doc could not see me till i was 6 weeks prego and they even said it was neg in the office. I demanded an ultra sound and there she was bairly blinking on the screen. At this point every one seemed sad and told me my hormones were not high enough to support the pregnancy and I was going to misscarry told me to go home and expect it. I waited three weeks and took another home test it was poss called my doc and went and had another ultra sound and there she was blinking strong. Anyways some people just don't produce enough hormones in the begining to trigger a poss at home. I did this with all of my pregnancy's so your best bet is get an ultra sound or a blood test.. hope this helps. good luck on the bar exam... Jenny

divaliciousdee 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Laura, be sure and ask for an HCG quantatative pregnancy test. I work in the lab and this is the test that actually tells how far along you are. If you are pregnant and it is very, very early(like 2 weeks) the blood test HCG qualitative(tells only neg or pos) will most likely be neg. You want the one that can tell you the weeks pregnant(quantitative). If this test (quantitative ) is less than 2 you are not pregnant. Just some professional advice!!! I also posted on your other post..congrats on the onederland!!
