medussa 0 Posted May 20, 2006 I was banded thurs the 18th....the whole thing was a breeze. Absolutely no issues. In fact felt FANTASTIC until late last night. I have only taken in fluids so far, but last night I got a horrible feeling of being bloated, full, and nauseous. I was up all day, and continued to walk around house. I stopped drinking. I tried gas-x and pepto-bismal . I started to have pain in my right upper quadrant right under my ribs and it radiated to my right collarbone. I was able to get 2 small burps up but jeez nothing helped. Now I don't even want to drink because it sucked feeling that way. Any tricks of the trade? I swear I had nothing to eat except liquids. Like I said, I was so uncomfortable that I stopped drinking. What to do?
mychevygirl 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Been there....still there...Banded May 4th and still experiencing gas pains I would suggest WALKING WALKING WALKING and Gas X tablets that are fast dissolving. they do have new strips too. I was not good and pulled the muscle my port is in, so I've been down for a week. It hurts. Good luck and keep walking it really does work!

DonnaB 3 Posted May 20, 2006 Sounds like normal post-op gas pain to me too. Here's a tip to relieve some of the pain: Stand next to your bed, bend from the waist and rest your forearms on it with your forehead resting between them. You can bend your knees a bit if it's more comfortable but try to keep your rear end as high as you can. It looks completely crazy and doesn't offer much in the way of mobility, but I've shared this with lots of people who, like me, have found some gas-pain relief in that position. As much as you can, walk walk walk. Don't stop drinking, the bloated feeling isn't cause by too much Water and drinking can actually help with the bloat. More importantly, you need to drink to stay super-hydrated which will also assist with dissipating the surgery gas.
medussa 0 Posted May 20, 2006 Thanks for the advice. Been walking and eating gas-x strips with no relief. I will continue to keep drinking even though I have no desire right now. Maybe more Water will help. I will keep at it

3loves 0 Posted May 23, 2006 Oooo, sounds painful to me. I have several bags of mulch to get down, but I don't want to be sore b4 surgery and know I can't do it afterwards. Poor DH, he's going to work hard this summer. :heh: Take it easy and rest that port!!
