Manatee - I'm with you - I LOVE eggnog and even though I am very lactose intolerant since surgery, I figured a little couldn't hurt -- WRONG -- it didn't hurt my stomach, but man-o-man did my intestines revolt like crazy ... so, another thing off my list!

I am glad I never liked egg nog.

It's pretty common for this surgery

to cause lactose intolerance so that could very well be the case.

you're right. This is so much better than living with a band!

okay, I had my surgery done in June of 2009 alos. I think I'm lactose since the surgery too...... Never like this before, or before my band either. Still finding food wont go down, not easy for we with the sleeve. ;)

Heres a question for you people who have had revison from band to sleeve....what is the cost for this with Dr. Aceves?

I've seen a few people state the revision with Dr. Aceves was between 11-12,500K. I hope one of his patients can pipe in and give you an exact number.

I was a virgin sleever and my cost was $9500 -- I think the revision is about $11,500 -- you could email Nina and ask her. Daisy and Ruthie were both revisions, so they may be able to chime in next time they are on line.

You're doing great with you weight loss...... I had my surgery done also in June 2009, only lost 60 pounds. What are you eating? Please let me know, I want the weight to come off faster, working out three days a week with a trainer also. :tongue_smilie:

If your band was placed by Dr Aceves originally your price for revision to sleeve is $10,500. If you are going there for revision after lapband surgery elsewhere it's $12,500. VSG as a "first" bariatric surgery is, I believe, $9500.

I am paying $12,500 for revision. Had the band placed in Phoenix. I think that Dr. Aceves has "specials" sometimes as it seems like this past summer people were telling that they had gotten a special price. Seems like it was in Aug/Sept if I remember right, as it was the "hot time of year" weather wise and alot of people don't like to come to this area due to the heat. The price we pay includes everything (Anesthesia, lab work, hospital, etc, etc, etc). My insurance will pay for the revision if I have it in the U.S. but I want the best surgeon so have decided to cash pay and go with Dr. Aceves.

Lady, I am a slow loser too..but finally almost 40 lbs gone. My surgery was 7/28/09. I eat too much (900 cals per day) and my treadmill broke, so I am waiting on the repairman and not exercising like before.

But OMG 60 lbs!! WTG!! What was your starting BMI and what is your BMI now?

I been so crazy, sorry I haven?t got back to you..... I don?t know what I was for my BMI then, but now it still said I'm obesity, " Don?t like that word" But now my weight is 196 as of today, I don?t remember ever being in the Hundreds........ My surgery was June 21, 2009 and I think I'm not loosing as fast as I read on this sleeve talk. I still have problems with my food too....... I do about 1200 calories a day for my height and weight to loose. I also work out three days with a personal trainer, boy do I hate it!

I had several complications post-op, one being a leak, and then a 2nd hospitalization in mid-July for Fluid pockets in my abdomen. So, I struggled in the beginning. But, I did follow the program, and stayed around 600 calories a day, and I didn't start working out until end of October, and I haven't been to the gym in a month.

Right now, because I have lost so much so quickly, I eat whatever I want, and I eat carbs. I still stay between 600-700 calories a day, around 30 grams of carbs, and I get all my Protein (60grams) from food sources.

I do treat myself occasionally with a couple of chocolate miniatures a couple times a week. I just recently broke my first stall. I hadn't lost any weight in about 10 days, and then today I weighed in 3lbs less. So, I am 3lbs to goal, and really need to learn to maintain.

Right now, I eat just about anything I want, but I try to follow the Protein first rule. I eat a balanced diet for the most part. Some days meat is not appealling at all, so I may skip it and am a bit short on my protein for the day. I had to get my loss to slow down somehow, and really the thing that has helped is incorporating a better variety of food, and balancing our veggies and carbs. Today, for lunch, I went out with a girlfriend and had spicy Thai noodles with chicken. YUMMY. I ate 4 strips of the chicken, the inside of a spring roll (cabbage, glass noodles, chicken, slivers of carrots), and then ate about 3-4 oz of the noodles.

We eat a lot of venison, and chicken. We rarely eat beef (except beef Jerky, and I'm obsessed with it). I don't graze, or really snack. If I'm going to eat a meal, I eat, and then I am satisfied for several hours. I enjoy a salad once to twice a week, and this is usually the meal when I skip meat because I love salad.< /span>

I was extremely disciplined in the beginning, and had some trouble with food so I stayed on mushies a bit longer. I incorporated solid food very slowly. I ate a lot of mashed potatoes and yogurt.

I can't put all the blame on the complications. I was pretty stern with myself from the end of July to October. My husband came home from a 6.5 month deployment to Afghanistan, and became the food police. So, I did start eating more food, and found it easier to eat because he was finally home, and I wasn't constantly stressed.

Now, food is kind of free game for me because I need to maintain between 145-150. I'm at 153 today so I've decided to eat a balanced diet, and not deprive myself of certain foods. It's working for me thus far.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
