I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems. I haven't had surgery yet so I don't know how to help you. Are you taking the Nexium? I hope someone can help you soon.

I'm glad that you made it home safely. Hugs, Judy

My first question was also going to be are you taking Nexium?

That's what I would do too. Call the doctor and tell them the Nexium isn't helping. I know they say the stomach makes as much acid as it did before surgery until it realizes it doesn't need to make as much.

Some people don't respond to one PPI but respond to another. So your doc can give you a prescription for something else and hopefully that one will work.

I had to take 40 mg of nexium the first couple of weeks I was home -- that seemed to help - I took 20 in the am and 20 in the pm ... sorry I didn't think to tell you that when we were at the hospital - I think my brain was shutdown due to boredom! Sometimes I have to take nexium and zantac and that will cut out the acid reflux. I take one nexium and 2 zantac. Hope that helps! Glad to hear you made it home okay!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
