Norma 10 Posted July 13, 2009 I used to play softball on three teams in the summer. That was over 25 years ago. Seven years ago I worked out twice daily at the gym and with a trainer 3x a week and lost 130 lbs in 2 years. I changed jobs and didn't have the luxury of spending 3 hrs a day in the gym and got out of the habit. I have gained back half of that weight. Last week, I made it to the gym on three mornings. My goal this week is to make it 5x. I have to do something to get my body to lose weight as my insulin needs are just causing me to resist burning calories and I am tired of the continued pains and medical issues creeping up on me as I age. I don't like exercise and am not happy:cursing: about the need to do it daily but I am committed to getting healthier while I save $$ for sleeve surgery. Luckily my gym membership is only $11 a month for Supersport club at 24hrFitness. Is anyone else doing daily workouts and if so, what are you doing? Anyone want to jump on a bandwagon and post your efforts with me? We could us each other as support.:laugh0:

I'd love to jump on the bandwagon with you;however, I can't start working out at the gym for until after the 24th of July -- the best I could do is pilates and Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs. If you want to wait 2 weeks for me to jump on the bandwagon with you, I'll be there.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) I go the gym most days. Wednesdays and Sat. mornings I do a class called Group Power. It's working out with weights to music and l love that class. We work every muscle group. Tuesdays I am on my own with free weights and machines then 45 min of cardio . I use the elliptikill, the stair master, and the treadmill. Sometimes I do 20 min on each one. It depends on how early I am able to drag myself out of bed. If I am running late, I do my weights and then 30 min on the elliptikill and 15 min alternating between jogging and walking fast on an incline on the treadmill. Thurs . is the same routine. Wed and Sat after my group power class, I do some cardio with those same machines, again it depends on what else I have going on as to how much time I have for cardio. Monday nights after work I walk 4 miles around this lake that has some big hills. Sundays I usally go hiking with friends but sometimes I go to the gym in the mornings too. That's pretty much my work out routine! Edited July 13, 2009 by Oregondaisy
MacMadame 81 Posted July 13, 2009 I used to go to the gym a lot but now I am mostly outside. I do something 5-6 days a week and some days I do two workouts. I'm training for a Half Ironman and I'm toying with doing an Ironman next year. I'd really like to do one, but it is a big time commitment to train for one. I think it works best to have a goal and to find something you love to do. I used to figure skating and I would test and compete in order to have goals. Now I have triathlon and I enter races to have goals.
Jachut 487 Posted July 13, 2009 I took up running partly because I loved it but also because I knew I dont have time for the gym! I needed something that I could just step out my front door and do and I needed something that I could do at any time of the day, not be dependent on timetables and that if I only had half an hour I could still burn 600 calories. Running was it. I would never ever be succesful with trying to commit to the gym. I like to go to a class occasionally but to me, regular gym going isnt very compatible with jobs and families. I was also able to set goals for running - trainign for different races and i think that was really important in getting the daily running habit established - I think it took about six months before it was a really ingrained habit. *susan* 1,709 Posted July 13, 2009 I belong to Bailey's gym, they are open 24/7 so that is really convenient for me. The great thing is, I also have my kids and hubby go with me, so it is a family thing for us to go and work out together. We were going to Anytime Fitness, but they were really small and didn't offer any classes, so we switched as soon as our contract was up.
Norma 10 Posted July 13, 2009 I did cardio on elliptical today. I am easing back into it because I have asthma and bad knees. I don't want to overdo and get sick. Thanks for all the responses. Let's keep it up.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted July 13, 2009 I just made giong to the gym a habit . I get dressed in the morning for the gym and if anything comes up and I can't go, I am irritated by it.
*susan* 1,709 Posted July 13, 2009 I wish I could get myself up in the mornings and go to the gym, but I am just not a morning person. It is all I can do to get out of bed and go to work! So, we usually go home, have dinner and then head to the gym around 8:00 at night.

So, we usually go home, have dinner and then head to the gym around 8:00 at night. I used to go in the evenings, too and then when I moved to the other side of town, and joined a new gym, it was so packed at night I would get up and go at 5:30 am -however with vegas being a 24 hour town and all the different shifts, it got to the point that even at 5:30 or 6 am you couldn't find a parking spot and had to wait on some equipment -- I hated that -- so that is why I am excited to be able to go to my girlfriend's house and work out in her "gym" on my way home from work -- then once I get home, I can be in for the night. Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted July 14, 2009 Yes, I know I am very lucky that I only have to work part time. I start work at 1:00 so it's not a big deal for me to get up in the am and go straight to the gym. If I had to be at a job at 8am, honestly, I don't know how I would fit gym time in. I am a lazy butt when I get home from work.

*susan* 1,709 Posted July 14, 2009 That is the biggest problem I have. Once I get home, I really like to stay home for the evening. But, because hubby likes to work out with Danielle and I, we have to wait for him. I get off work at 4:30 and he usually doesn't get home until 6:00. When he comes home he is starving so we eat dinner first and then go to the gym. Sometimes it is a real struggle for me to convince myself to go at 8:00. I would love to be able to just go on my way home from work.
