OK, Ladies

What is the most crazy, silly, funny, stupid, or exciting gift that you have ever recieved from your husband, boyfriend, lover, betterhalf, ect???

I will start it out with one.

My husband:001_tt1: on around our 15th Christmas together gave me a skin divers watch and I can't even swim.

I think he must have been wanting to find out how deep the pond is. LOL Judy:lol0::laugh0::lol0::lol0:

My boyfriend once gave me a small stone. He said to rub it when I got anxious. I guess I could have seen that as considerate of cheap, I guess he could have offered to pay for therapy. I guess the stone was just a subtle hint, now that I look back at it.

My now ex-husband once gave me a rear-window defroster kit (this is before they came on cars standard and when we lived in Indianapolis). He thought it was a GREAT gift, I thought it stunk. To make matters worse, he never installed it in my car until he started driving it on a daily basis. To this day he thinks it was a great gift and to this day, I think it sucked!

My bf gave me the gaudiest ugliest earings for valentines day this past year. They are big pink hearts with xoxoxo all over them. I looked at them and thought "what could you possibly have been thinking" they look like he got them at he dollar store, but he said he got them at Hallmarks. I think they are acutally for children.

Luckily, it's the thought that counts.

My ex-husband bought me a vacuum cleaner for Valentine's Day. Notice, I said "ex."

Mr. Mac used to be great at gifts. He'd always get me something I didn't think to ask for, but really wanted.

Used to be? Has that changed?

He hasn't been quite as brilliant lately, but I think that's because of our finances more than anything.

Our first Christmas together, my husband bought me a set of pots and pans. I hated to cook back then, so I returned them and bought clothes. Now, I would love to have some new pots. lol After about 15 years of marriage we both decided the best gift was for me to pick out what I wanted, only he has to go shop WITH me and not whine. The gift of time, so to speak.

I was married 18 yrs....two gifts stick out to me in all that time. One was an absolutely stunning set of wind chimes. It was totally unexpected and not for any particular reason ...(although I try not to wonder about that now...lol). They are fantastic deep mellow tones...nothing tinny, brassy or tinklly sounding. I told him in no uncertain terms that I would be taking those in the divorce.

The only other meaningful gift I ever remember getting from him was Stella D'Ora Daylilies for our 15th anniversary. funny part is....they were deeply discounted at the garden store because it was long past blooming time. I think they were marked 75% off. However, as perenials, he knew they would bloom again. If I remember right I think he got 15 plants...one for each year. The bulk of those came with me in the divorce although I did leave a few at the house for him to remember me by! lol

I've never been fortunate to be with a man that believed in "spoiling" his woman with jewelry or gifts of any kind.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
