Anything comparable to Nexium MUPS?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost out of the Nexium I purchased in Mexicali--any suggestions on something comparable that dissolves? Thanks!

Deb - if you can't find anything and want me to pick you up some while I'm in Mexicali, let me know -- we purchased the 40 mg and cut them in 1/2 - they are less expensive than the 20 mg. I can mail them to you and you can mail me payment or pay through paypal if you have it. We will leave tomorrow so let me know ASAP either here or by PM.

Deb, I also ran out after just two months. At first, I didn't get anything to replace it. But, after a week of major reflux, I had to try something. I tried several things that did not work for me. Then, Elisabeth mentioned trying Prilosec. I did and it works just as well for me as the Nexium did.

I just drink it with Water without any problems. In fact, I never dissolved any of my meds after surgery.

I was taking regular prilosec the day I came home from my surgery. It's a tiny pill.

Is it OTC or by prescription?

When you say tiny pill - is it about the size of regular nexium 40 mg. tablets? Because I still can't swallow those :laugh0:

The Prilosec is OTC. In terms of size, they are a bit smaller than the Nexium Mups. I have no problems swallowing any types of pills, as long as I take them with Water.< /span>

I take Protonix and it has gone generic. It costs me $10 and it's a very tiny pill. It's every bit as good as Nexium. It's a prescription .

I have trouble swallowing all types of pills if they are any larger than my BC pill which is very tiny -- I have found that if I cut them into small pieces, and take them with yogurt they go down without getting stuck for very long. I've also learned that they go down easier if I take them in the evening instead of in the morning.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
