Just thought I'd take a second and introduce myself. I've been lurking here for a little while. I have a consultation set up for July 20th with a doctor in Louisiana.

I will find out that day when they can schedule me to be sleeved.

I'm excited, nervous, and scared!

I'm so ready to have a date set, but I have a ton of questions that I will be posting soon. I just need time to think of all of them so that I make sense when I do post.

If anyone has any good advice on what I should do to prepare my home and my family for the post op and living after surgery, I'd appreciate it.

I'm sure someone else has already asked everything I can think of to ask, but I'll probably ask it again!!!!

I am looking forward to getting to know all of you lovely peeps as the days move closer and closer for me.

Penny :scared0:

I've noticed that a majority on here have used Dr Aceves in Mexico. How much does he charge and how long is the stay there?

Thanks for the great welcome, I appreciate it much!!

Welcome Penny. Yes, lots of us have used Dr. Aceves -- IMO he is absolutely the best of the best. I paid $9500; however for July I believe he has reduced his price to $8750. This includes the following:

All pre-op tests

1 night at a gorgeous resort

Surgery

Anesthesia

3 nights in the hospital

All post-op tests

Copies of your chest xray and your upper GI

Copy of your operative report

Copy of your blood work

Basically you pay Dr. Aceves and he pays the hospital and the anesthesiolgist and anyone else who needs paid.

It is the cleanest hospital you will ever be in and everyone is absolutely wonderful -- you see Dr. Aceves at least 3x a day during the time you are in the hospital; plus other members of his staff.

Any more questions, just ask - don't even worry if they've already been asked before -- someone will answer you again.

The dr I have in La. is 13000.00.. hmmm.. wonder how long the waiting list would be for the good Dr Aceves..

My sister used the doctor that I am booked for a consultation with on the 20th. She has done amazingly well. Has never felt bad or sick.

I'm so proud of her!!

Really stressed for the post op because, in case ya'll don't know it, South Louisiana has the best food in the world! You can't live here and stay thin! LOL

I'm looking forward to NOT wanting bread pudding with a whiskey sauce.. (my absolute favorite food in the world)

Ya'll are so sweet! Thanks for the welcome. Good luck on the procedure to both of you. Hopefully mine will be the first part of August. They are sceduling me the 20th. I'm sooo afraid they are going to find a reason why they CANNOT do mine.. Tell me I"m being silly.

My sister keeps telling me of course they are going to be able to do it..

I just worry.

Scared to get too excited just yet!

You're being silly (your words, not mine) -- they will be able to do your sleeve. Don't even think negative, let alone put it out into the universe -- negative out, negative back ... think and speak only POSITIVE ... when I have my sleeve, when I lose my weight ... POSITIVE only allowed!!!!

V angel is right and I had the very same worry before surgery. I had a previous surgery and was afraid that he wouldnt be able to do this one. Renee his coordinator told me that if anyone could do the surgery, he could and not to worry. My frets were for nothing.

Congrats on your surgery and welcome to the forum! I think we have a pretty fantastic group here!

I agree, be positive. Put out positive and get positive back!

If anyone has any good advice on what I should do to prepare my home and my family for the post op and living after surgery,

Some things you can do:

1) Start practicing chewing well and eating slowly

2) Start taking your Vitamins

3) Wean off caffeine (you shouldn't have caffeine immediately post-op for a number of reasons and you don't want to deal with a caffeine headache on top of everything else immediately post-op)

4) Wean off carbonated beverages

5) Buy samples of Protein powder for immediately post-op. Don't worry about finding one you like pre-op as most people's tastes change post-op, at least at first while in ketosis. Just stock up on the samples so you have lots to try.

6) Talk to your family about your expectations of them

Some things your family can do:

1) You'll have weight lifting restrictions at first so they can help out by doing chores that require lifting.

2) Get an agreement about what they can and can't eat in the house and in front of you when you are on the liquid diet. Remind them that this time is not forever but it's probably going to be hard for you.

3) Ask them not to be your food police! (Unless that's okay with you, but it drives most people mad.)

4) Be prepared for mood swings and unhappiness on your part -- your hormones will be going nuts during this time and that effects different people in different ways. You may not be too bad or you may be a crying irrational mess. It's best to be prepared.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
