That money going out every month serves as a reminder of how important this new me really is and what I am willing to go through to have a new life. Hope you like my photos I posted this morning. I am amazed at the difference so the band wasnt entirely a waste. I will post new pics in the near future. I am holding off till I hit onederland. Hopefully next week.

What pictures? Where? I don't see them -- I can't find them ... I wanna see them!!!!!!!

Well Hello!:yo:

I am a TEXAS GAL, and I am here to get all the info you guys are willing to share.

I want the Good, The bad, And the UGLY! (please)

After doing LOTS, and LOTS of research, I have decided to get the sleeve instead of the Band.:001_tt2:

I recently found out that My insurance will cover the sleeve

(BCBS FEP) needless to say that was a plus.

I am curently in the process of meeting with my Dietician, and getting a Psyc evaluation. I have a long way to go before surgery but I gave my first step in getting healthy!

I wish everyone the best, and thank you for having a place like this!

My Uncle had his sleeve done in Houston and LOVED his doc. I went to Aceves in Mexico because I was a self-pay. Good luck to you!

The other board changed my mind about having the band also. I saw so many problems. When I read about the sleeve I knew it was the one for me.

Something that is not really told is the pain and sacrifice you will go thru.

Hi Tiffany, and welcome to VST.

Pain and sacrifice? I am curious as to why you say that. Most everyone I have talked to, including myself have commented on how surprised they were at how minimal the pain was. As for sacrifice, I haven't made any sacrifices. This has been the best thing ever to happen to me. Please share more of your experience with us.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
