As I'm reading...I agree most docs are different. The only thing I would say is do the Clear liquids for a week...maybe two JUST BECAUSE. You are going to have to find "how much" makes you full and adjust to that. The Clear Liquids help keep the process simple versus if you get sick because of something you ate. I'm 4 weeks post op this coming Wednesday and eating most foods. Again, my biggest challenge is figuring out what foods work and what don't. I would suggest moving slow with foods the first month so you don't get overwhelmed...be mindful that week 3 you may hit a wall (emotional challenge of "what the heck did I do") due to the change...

Best of Luck and keep coming back to site...it's been a GREAT WEBSITE for helping me deal with the little things that come up....

Lisa, I chewed sugarless gum to help me get over that craving to chew something. It really helped, so long as you don't swallow it.

Donna, welcome to our forums.

No need to apologize at all, I was just curious. If you hit "quote" the person to whom you are responding post will appear above your reply -- like I have done with you - then we'll all know who your talking too! You'll get the swing of it, it takes time, trust me, I know!

Thanks!!! I am actually doing and feeling great!!!!! I have not had any difficulties ( Thank you Jesus!) However, I am having difficulty getting in all of Protein on this full liquid stage... Any suggestions on how to get all the protein in? Or does it get better/easier with mushies and solids?

Hi, I don't know where you live, but I get these cans of Protein Shakes that have 35grams of Protein and only 2 carbs from Trader Joe's in California. so I usually have one for Breakfast and another later in the day (70 grams), ,then I have some s/f pudding with skim milk and that's 15 grams and then chicken/beef/wonton broth. I just wish I would start losing more weight!:svengo:Good Luck, when do you get to go to mushies?

At my TJ's they have chocolate and vanilla cream, I pour it over ice and add some cinammon to the vanilla creme. I also found some banana and Chocolate Cookie at Linbergh Nutrition by the same maker, WORLDWIDE. Enjoy. If you add a scoop of Protein Powder to it in the blender you would get a good whollup of Protein and it would be thicker. I do that sometimes, I can crank that protein up to 60 grams!!! I also use these "bullets" that are 42 grams of Liquid Protein I pour 1/4-1/2 in a glass of ice then pur Vitamin Water (10 calories from Target) on top of it and sip that over crushed ice. Good Luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it! I will be going to Trader Joes tomorrow!

Remember you can only absorb about 30 grams of Protein at once, so if you're making up huge amounts of protein in a single drink, you're wasting it and it'll just go right through you.

Hi There, I've heard conflicting theories about the 30grams of Protein thing. I have a friend who is an Olympian Gold Medalist and he said it's a myth. I've researched it and seen both sides of the debate. Confusing isn't it?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
