Polly K.P. 0 Posted February 27, 2010 Dear Norma, I am so happy for both of you. Unfortunately for me, I need to wait for Medicare as I have no funds available for getting the surgery on my own. But I am very glad to hear you are doing so well, and feel so happy. Right now I'm the sad, mad, disappointed one, but hopefully things will turn out for the best. Best of luck and success---I know you're working hard at this to make it the success it is. Thanks for the update. Polly K.P.

kat513 0 Posted March 21, 2010 I think you can get the initial consult cheaper. I'm in Louisville. I attended a WLS seminar for Bluegrass Bariatrics yesterday (Saturday morning) at Baptist East. This group of docs is also in Lexington at Central Baptist, if that's closer. They used to be with the Georgetown group, but are now separate. The seminars are free, and the initial consult is only $250. I was really impressed with the doctor who did the seminar. My sister is a nurse, and works with someone who recently had surgery with this group. They had nothing but good things to day. Hope this helps. Kat
ANITALOU 2 Posted June 29, 2010 I can't help but wonder if you are a victum of "school insurance". I am a teacher and I go tomorrow for my orientation for the sleve at St Joes in Lexington. I actually learned about this procedure from the shrink I had to see with my "pain clinic" visit. He told me the sleve was still considered experimental and my insurance would not cover it. I did not seriously consider this until I had Dr. Egan, Lex Arth, and Dr. Vascello St joes pain clinic...suggest that I needed an insulin pump..I'm a 4 shot a day.....and still fluctuate wildly...up and down! Did you consult with St. Joes...if not have you hear something bad about them?
kat513 0 Posted July 5, 2010 I have UHC INS and They initially said GSV was not on the list of covered procedures. Dr Oldham's office said they would submit for preauthorization anyway, and we were all stunned when the Ins. Co said they would cover it, and there wasn't a 6month waiting period! I had my surgery with Dr Oldham on June 14and all is going well.
