Need to check my progress

Recommended Posts

I have been reading this site for some time, and have just registered today so I could post a message. The people on this site seem to have had so much success.

I had my lapband surgery on April 5, 2006. I was down 20 pounds in 1.5 weeks, and felt so great, recovery was a breeze.

THEN IT CAME TO A HALT. I saw my doctor for my one month post-op appt, and he filled me 1.5cc. That was May 4. Since then, I have lost only 2 pounds (just over 2 weeks). I am really scared at this point. I paid privately to have this surgery b/c I did not qualify with insurance. I am so scared I will not lose any more weight. Started at 280, now down to 258. I am happy for the loss I have had, but am very concerned it's all I will see. The amount of food I eat is so small, I just don't get it. I eat less than my little kids now. If I were following WW, I would be well within my daily points.

I am not saying I am perfect, I still eat some chocolate. But, just from a mathmatical standpoint, I am not eating enough calories to sustain my current weight.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The answer is yes. And look at my redults. I felt the same way you did in the beginning. I love to answer a post like this. You are doing great, just give it time. See if the restriction is enough, give it a few weeks. It took me two fills to get where I needed to be. Your time will come.

It takes time. 20 pounds in 1.5 weeks is not normal... Wonderful, but not normal. Personally, I like to shoot for 2 pounds a week, though lately I have been doing 3-4 pounds, only because I am working out so much and eating properly.

Do you track your calories and Protein in www.fitday.com? It is a great tool to see how much you are consuming. Make sure you are eating enough (like 1000-1500 calories) and you are getting in at least 60g of Protein.< /p>

Also, for me, it depends on my monthly cycle. Some days, I am so bloated.

And I have noticed that at times, the scale takes time to catch up. If you take your measurements, you may see a better indicator that you are losing weight. The scale is fickle at times. When you see inches lost, you will feel better...

It's normal. Your body is like - WTF? - and needs time to readjust. I lost almost 35 lbs my first week. It doesn't mean I lost fat, it means I was dehydrated, in ketosis, and really needing to poo!

I'm about 11 weeks post op. I'd have to look at my blog, but guesstimating I'm going to say that between weeks 5 and 9 I didn't lose anything, or lost maybe a pound. My body needed time to recover from the initial shock of everything that happened to it. That's all.

If you're following the calorie adage, then you need to keep in mind that results aren't instantaneous. Yeah, you're taking in fewer calories than you're burning, but there are a lot of little things in our body that can help it get by or, adversely, add to our total weight. It doesn't mean that the minute your activity puts you at the point of being under your BMR, ou can jump on the scale and see a pound gone. Remember that the scale weights your entire mass, meaning your skin & everything in it. It does not weight your fat. You will probably experience frustrating times, if you rely on the scale only, because it is possible to lose sizes without losing weight, especially if your workout routine is effective.

Just be patient. It will happen. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
