Hey Ya'll

I am considering the sleeve and will most likely have it in July. I am so happy this forum exists, as so many of my questions have been answered. I have been very nervous about it since it is permanent. But, you are all so positive and helpful :lol0:

I do have questions that I don't think has been answered yet:

1. I had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago. Sometimes I randomly still feel the pains associated with gallstones, but my doctor said it was most likely acid reflux. Did anyone else experience this and do you think the sleeve would make the random pains worse?

2. I have job that is stressful and active (no heavy lifting though), when do you think I would feel back to 'normal'??

3. Do the staples from the surgery stay inside you permanently?

Thanks!!

The staples do stay in your permanently. They are permanently removing part of your stomach, so that side has to be stapled off.

I can't answer the gall stones question. Most doctors want their patients on an acid reducer for 3 months after surgery.

I can't answer you going back to work question either. I went back in less than a week. I have a desk job. I could have gone back the day after I was released from the hospital. I wasn't in pain, and really could not tell I had surgery.

There are people who say they don't feel very good for a couple of weeks after surgery.

I had my gallbladder out too. It's the same as it always was after surgery. So no worries there.

I went back to work at my desk job at 1.5 weeks and wish I'd taken 2 weeks. But I had a slow start. Lots of people go back in less than a week. OTOH, why do it if you can avoid it? I think staying home until you are off liquids makes your life a lot easier.

I agree with you Mac 100%. It would have been so much easier to stay home during the liquid phase. My job is a desk job mostly; however, it requires a lot of mental concentration and since I'm not getting in all my Protein, I'm a bit "slower" and "foggier" than usual. Luckily, I have a great boss and he's cool with it all as he knows it's "not me."

He sent me home early today because he could see the light was on but no one was home.

You might want to check with a GI specialist. About 10% of people who have had their gallbladder removed still experience gallbladder pain. Your gallbladder is removed but the common bile duct remains and you can get gallstones in it. Urso is a medication (enzyme) that can dissolve the crystals and stones and relieve the pain.

2. I have job that is stressful and active (no heavy lifting though), when do you think I would feel back to 'normal'??

I went back to work as an RN a week post-op but was very tired and a bit sore. If you can get 10 days to 2 weeks off, go for it.

3. Do the staples from the surgery stay inside you permanently?

Yes. They are titanium.

Thanks!!

Good luck with your surgery!

Everyone does -- you want to know the answer to everything - even if it does transpire - you want to make sure your bases are covered -- you'll be good and 2 weeks off will be a wonderful thing as well.

Thanks Vegasangel. How are you doing 2 weeks out? Congrats on the 17lbs!!

Thank you -- I may have lost more than 17 lbs. however, I was obsessing on the scale and so am forcing myself to only weigh once a week - Mondays. I will be anxious to see what the scale reads on Monday!

I am feeling really good considering I had major surgery 2 weeks ago. I am back to work and all of my other normal activities. I do tend to tire more quickly than I did before the surgery; however, I totally believe that is due to the fact that I am not able to get in all my Protein. I will start on mushies next week so I think that when that happens, the Protein will be easier to get in -- scrambled egg with cheese, egg salad sandwich, chicken salad, etc.

At least that is what I'm hoping !!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
