Non Scale Victory (NSV)

Recommended Posts

On Monday, I had to work the day shift to teach a few topics at an all day conference where I work. Normally, I wear regular clothes and a lab coat. For the conference, I wore dressy clothes and no lab coat. I saw many people I had not seen for months (170 people attended). MANY people came up to me to tell me it's quite apparent that I have lost weight, etc. It's nice that the loss is showing.

For lunch, 50 pizzas were delivered. I had brought a Protein Bar with me so I took my 2 pieces of pizza to my skinny secretary and had lunch in the office with him. It felt great to have control over the food. Prior to the surgery, I could have easily devoured 4 pieces.

Congrats! You earned it, you deserve it! You've been working your butt off exercising and watching your diet. You deserve every great compliment that comes your way!

That's awesome Elisabeth - I'm so happy for you and that you now know your hard work is paying off and people are taking notice. That has to feel good.

Thanks, Mac. I edited it and made the correction. I've been working way too many hours and 3-4 hours of sleep a day/night is not cutting it... finally got a night off and slept well last night so the brain is functioning better now. LMAO.

Sleep is a wonderful thing ... so glad I'm sleeping through the night again, finally!

I read it as a NSV ... so maybe my brain isnt fully functioning yet. Good thing it's Friday.

Ok, here is my non scale victory. I had to buy a new belt. I kept drilling hoes in the old one, but it got to the point that the tail was flopping around.

Bad news is, I lost some more weight, relatively little and have used up 3 holes already. It just now occured to me, that being closer to goal means that my waist size changes much more for every little bit I lose (loose...LOL).

Yep. You go through clothes much faster as you go down too.

Oh, and I hear you on the lack of sleep. Elisabeth. I've been getting up at 5 am and going to bed at midnight!

CONGRATS ... that's got to feel good.

And maybe you're making your holes with hoes? That's what happens when you loose weight you know!

Congratulations! I think it's about 8 pounds difference between one normal size and another.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
