Checking in again to see if anyone has heard anything. I wonder if she took a laptop with her? If not, it may be a few days before we hear how she is doing.

Hopefully we'll hear something from someone today - I don't think she was the only one going to be down there for surgery - so hopefully someone else who is down there and on the site will let us know something soon.

Wondering about BobBay too - his surgery was Monday --

Hey Everyone! My surgery went great. Still sore and am having trouble getting in all the Protein and fluids I'm required to have, but otherwise good. I never thought that I would struggle getting enough nourishment. My whole life, I easily got more "nourishment" than I needed - hence my weight problem. Several of you talked about what a chore it was at first to get enough protein everyday. I could not comprehend it. Well, I do now. Sipping anything (protein, Water, broth, etc) is work. I just don't want it. I am sure that as my stomach heals it will get much better, but for now I will begrudgingly sip, sip, sip.

I am so glad to hear everything went great for you. I swear those first couple weeks of sipping is the worst, but rest assured it does get better.

Hey SoCal ! Thanks for checking in on me. I'm a little stronger each day. I just woke up from a long nap. Still having trouble getting in my fluids. I have already gotten 75% of my daily Protein requirement - so much better there. I went for a walk around the block this morning - made pretty good time. All in all, not a bad day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
