60 isn't that old! Of course I have all my teeth. LOL!!

;o) Honest, I didn't mean to insult. (crossing heart) I was just asking because those with dental problems or dentures have a really hard time chewing the way you have to with a band.

No, 60 isn't that old; however, you can have dentures at any time -- My dad has had them since his late 20's and he's 81 now.:o

Today I was watching TV and noticed that for some unk. reason I had gas pain in my upper mid-seciton. I NEVER have gas pain nor stomach problems, per se. I kept thinking that IF I had the band, this might be a common occurence.

There are tons and tons of reasons not to get a band, but I don't think thi sis one of them because, as far as I can tell, you aren't going to suddenly start getting stomach aches from the band.

The more likely problems are slippage and erosion. Erosion is largely symptomless, yet very serious. Slippage usually causes reflux and sometimes a sore throat.

Other things to worry about: port flipping, tubing or band springing a leak, esophageal spasms, and not being able to get proper restriction.

I thought she said she didn't have the band??

You should be able to access your insurance policy online to see what your exclusions say. I knew my policy specifically state that it did not cover ANY type of WLS but I submitted for insurance approval anyway, with no luck, so I am a self-payer....but check your policy and see.

Here, in Louisiana, the sleeve costs anywhere from $9800 - 14,000 cash.

i turned 60 last month, i have anthem blue cross of california who denied the sleeve as investigational, i requested an independent medical review and the doctor's office called today to schedule, yeah, i knew the sleeve was the only one for me, too many problems with band/bypass, it seems like it took forever, but people are winning their appeals, and more companies are covering them, kaiser, united, aetna, and soon they all will because to say it is unproven is balony, best of luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
