Today is my birthday. I'm 65. It's hard for me to believe that because I don't feel it.

I also feel as though I've had a rebirth. This surgery is giving me a new lease on life because I'm finally on my last diet ever. I'm going to diet to lose the weight and then just eat healthily after that. The sleeve will allow me to do that because if the restriction. That is what I've needed all of my life.

I see some people here who have been discouraged by spouses, family etc. because they are 'too old'. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are 'too old' for ANYTHING in life. I have plans for at least twenty-five more years and I'm going to leave it dancing.

I just got home. My daughter took me out to Celebrate (hubby is working out of state). We saw Terry Fator. He'd won America's got Talent, but I never saw him on the show. It was one of the better shows I've seen. We laughed for an hour and a half. I posted a photo of me as we were getting ready to leave.

Belated Happy Birthday! I'm with you! I'll be 61 on the 30th and had my sleeve on 3/26. Sometimes I can't believe this is me. I want to go hiking. I didn't even want to walk 2 years ago! I thank God that I was able to get the sleeve. AND you are doing great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
