Well, the insurance thing is a no go. They want 6 months supervised diet, and then they can submit for coverage. No guarantees that they will even cover the sleeve when all is said and done, and our out of pocket costs would about $6000.00 + the costs of the diet, so for not much more I can go to Dr. Aceves and have it now.

So I am currently scheduled for July 23! Hard to believe it can happen that fast. I am so excited!:tea:

I need to get all my shopping done soon because I am going to do it at the end of my vacation in AZ, which saves an airfare!

So, whoo hoo! This time next year I could be 150 lbs lighter! I can't wait!

So I need to get some Protein samples ordered and lay in some stocks for the post op diet. Any suggestions? And tips and tricks I should know? What meds should I take, or be sure to get while in MX?

Congrats on getting your date set ! ! ! I ordered my samples of Syntrax nectar from Vitalady.com, but I didn't order them until this week. I didn't want to order and try them before surgery in case my tastes change post-op.

Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

I am sorry that ins isn't being more cooperative though!

Don't buy as much as you think. I overbought. I've got broth coming out of my ears. I bought lots of different flavors of crystal lite and now I find they are all too sweet except for the diluted lemon flavor. You're going to want to get out and have excursions anyway.

Oh I would love to have you come and be my buddy! my Hubby is coming with me but he doesn't bite.

The all inclusive price is $8750. And all my research shows he's the best (along with Dr. Cirangle, but that's who my insurance doesn't want to pay)

So far Nina (the patient coordinator) has been so friendly and nice.

I can't wait to get it done!

You will find that EVERYONE on Dr. Aceves' staff is friendly, nice, courteous, respectful and informative.

Dana, don't know if it's an option for you or not, but you could put a portion of it on a charge card if you need to - they will charge you a 3% fee and if you decide to do that, be SURE you notify your credit card company that you will be using your card in Mexicali.

Just a thought for a possible option to get you to where you need to be to be able to have surgery.

Hope it all works out for you.

Yes, the charge is a good option, unfortunately, with what I have available, I'm still a little shy..but I will work on it and see what I can come up with. I saw a special out there for $5000-don't even remember the doc-which seems unbelievably low-and kinda scary! Like I said before, my head is just spinning!

Be very leery of anyone charging that small of amount! It would terrify me, what corners must he be cutting?!? Also just so you are aware, the $8750 is only for July, after that his prices are $9500. Still an extremely good deal for the surgeon you get and all that is included! Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
