ZIPLOC OMELETTES

(This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!)

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, Tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling Water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling Water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed.

Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.

These are the best! we made them a last month when we were on a camp out with my husbands company. Now we are going to make them for our Memorial weekend camp out with the family. We used a big Turkey cooker ( deep fryer ) and boiled the Water in it outside and I want to say we had near twenty bags in it at one time ! It was GREAT!!!! Remember to always use freezer bags! They said the first time they did baggies and it was a mess.... Just a FYI

Hmm - really good idea. Does it taste like a normal omlette, or does it taste like a boiled egg omlette? (to me eggs in a pan and eggs boiled have very different taste)

This is great. My DH makes wonderful omelets, but they are a little on the greasy side. This will be a good way to get rid of the "fat" and the mess in the kitchen.

This is our camping breakfasts. Instead of shaking, everyone squeezes and mushes it. I don't think it tastes quite the same as a pan omlet, but there's no dishes to wash and that counts for a lot.:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
