It is those very people I wanted to avoid telling so I just chose not to tell anyone other than my husband and son. I have never regretted my decision NOT to tell anyone else.

Thanks Willow13 feel better I was worried if it did get out they'd think I was ashamed which I am not ashamed to live longer and give my son a better parent x

Exciting times!!!!! Xxx

I am not ashamed just not willing to be judged any longer so what they don't know doesn't hurt them and why should I tell them. If I were having my appendix removed I wouldn't have to explain my choices to them so don't see this as any different lol.

Good luck with your operation, you will have to let us know how you get on. It seems like such a long time ago now since I was starting the pre-op diet.

Anyone else had a bit of anxiety & OMG a few days before surgery, if it's positive I want all it's got to offer but I'm terrified it goes wrong or I get complications :-( ???

I think some anxiety is normal Betty. I know I was excited about my new life but the wory about complicationcomplications crept in as it go it closer, my main worry was actually the hospital stay itself though and not the actual op as I had faith in my surgeon.

Yeah I could still say I'm happy doing it and happy with who's doing it, I just feel really anxious that a I wake up again (little bit) have life altering complications (more worried)! But overall I can take a deep breath and say this will be ok but there's that niggling feeling that won't go away till a few weeks after I guess x

Hi Bettygirl , I'm three wks out Tues and felt like you do

I believe everyone gets scared and truly it comes down to the decision to not think about the scary things.

It's not a magic formula, it's better than that, it's simply life and mind over matter.

Every day, before and after, has brought both thrills and spills and this way I know I'm still in control and I'm strong enough to do it and so are you. Have faith you've got this, keep moving forward.

Thanks so much, as long as I come out of the other side with my health and complication free I can ride whatever waves comes at me next! Thanks though, and I wish you all the success and best wishes in the world x

Well, start my milk diet tomorrow

So looking forward to that, NOT, oh well, it has to be done.... Having my last bacon butty at mo, and probably a curry tonight, the last of the last. Oh, and of course a glass or two of wine. Going out to buy my milk today, but let me not forget my three sticks of sugar free gum and cup of bovril, already got my sugar free jellies at the ready.... haha be a scream... I know it'll soon pass, and it's a mean to an ends. So two weeks of the milk diet and then my operation, yippppeeeeeee

Everyone's preop diets are so different mine has been 3 weeks of 1000kals a day low fat low carb so I've had omelettes and chicken salad everyday but I've found that ok I'd have struggled with liquid for 2 weeks! I have lost as of this morning 1.5stone on that pre op diet in 3 weeks though so wow!!!'

Well done to you. That's brilliant. What a great diet. At Portsmouth they insist on the milk diet, but never mind. If you got to, you got to!!!!! We don't have any choice do we? If we did, I think I would have your diet, rather than mine.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
