KristeyK 3 Posted June 5, 2011 I'm not an RN YET....last day of school is August 17, 2012. YAY!!!! Wanna talk about feeling like a HUGE (pun intended) hypocrite? I'm doing my med-surg clinical right now. So far, two of my three days have been spent with post-op WLS patients. (One RNY, one VSG.) However, those two and a few others I have gone to "kick out of bed to ambulate" have commented on how nice it was not to have a skinny little thing tell them to get up and move. So who wants to help me with my care plans??? LOL!!!! Oh! And I AM in Arizona. HA HA HA. (Tucson. Blech)
herewegoagain 15 Posted April 7, 2012 I am an RN,CDE, in LA. Would love a site for nurses. I lived in Tempe many moons ago. Will have surg 6-27-12. Had lapband in 2005. It slipped and was removed 6-27-11. Obesity is an epidemic,so of course nurses can and are obese. At least we know the co-mornidities and choose to change the course of our lives! hellonurse 76 Posted April 14, 2012 Have you ever seen a nurses station without a jar of candy or a box of donuts??? @learned2beskinny LOL, it's true! But it's mostly from the wonderful folks we take care of, and their family members giving it to us. I have one family who never forgets a holiday, she brings tons of cupcakes for every holiday! For Christmas we get the biggest tower of goodies from Harry and David. I'm on my pre op diet and those cupcakes were sitting on my computer desk for Easter!! I had a stare down with em, but I won!! Didn't let them get me Sent from my iPhone using VST

CindyGo1313 13 Posted May 14, 2012 RN from Cali I think do many rns get the sleeve because we see/know all the problems that stem from obesity. I don't want to be 30 and have to have my foot amputated because my sugars were out of control. We see the htn and sleep apnea and dm and chf ....to us its a real possibility of what could happen to us in the future, and personally I want to age into a nice little old lady with to health issues

IsaacsGram 58 Posted May 31, 2012 RN here from Illinois. I'm a labor & delivery nurse and I reached my "last straw" when I was injured AGAIN. I've had shoulder surgery, Achilles tendon tear, and more back strains than I can count. If I don't have WLS surgery I won't be able to do my job much longer! I'm still pre-op and jumping thru the hoops! Best wishes to all of us nurses!
