I will start by saying I hate eggs so the raves I get for this recipe are from people who do enjoy them. Quiche is usually made with half & half or cream but this is a lighter version with a lot of Protein.< /span>

1. Take a store bought deep dish pie shell and prick holes in the crust on the bottom and sides.

2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (bake).

3. In a bowl, whisk together:

- 4 eggs

- 1.5 cups of skim milk

- Canned all white meat chicken or turkey (drained and flaked) - 11-12 oz

- 1 tablespoon worstershire sauce

- 1/4 cup of low fat ricotta cheese

- 1 tablespoon onion powder

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

- 1/2 cup of low fat shredded cheddar cheese or another cheese you like

- 2 tablespoons of corn starch (this is the secret ingredient that thickens the quiche)

4. Pour the mixture in the pie crust.

5. Bake for 45-55 min at 350 degrees. If the quiche is not golden brown and set, bake for an additional 10 min.

I love Quiche!!

Sounds AWESOME!

I used to have a recipe that was my grandmother's for cheese crust Quiche but I lost it awhile ago :001_tt2: but it's probably not WLS friendly anyways!

I had quiche in a restaurant that was very good and it was made with swiss cheese and chopped up broccoli. They do have low fat swiss cheese. I hate eggs but I am going to try making this and making it with swiss cheese.

Thanks Elizabeth!

Did you do the ricotta bake that you add Tomato sauce over the top or the one you mix with sf pudding?

I made the one that you bake and then I put some Bertolini tomatoe and olive sauce over it (I put it on individual portions, not the entire thing) it was delicious -Bearded really liked it too - and I ate on it for several days.

I haven't tried the dessert one yet - will probably do so after the cruise - hoping it won't be too sweet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
