Last night I tried my first food. I had a quarter cup of ricotta. I ate very slowly. Since then, through this morning, I have a pain in my back just to the left of my right 'wing'. Anybody else experience this? Is it something I shold be concerned about?

I had that for the first few times I ate real food. I was told it was due to post-operative swelling and went back to fluids for a day. All was fine after that.

Put a call into Nina and ask her to have Dr. Campos call you.

It's OK today. May be gas.

What is funny right now. I usually drink Atkins shakes and have no problem at all.

Yesterday and today I added a scoop of Protein powder to it. It was a bit thick so I added some Water. I can hardly drink a swallow or two. It doesn't seem any thicker than the usual shake but I'm having to force it in. I'm going to put it away and have more later. I like adding the Protein because it adds 22 g. protein to the 15 already in the drink.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
