Hi All,

My name is Adrienne and I was sleeved April 14,2009. I have so far(as of this morning) lost 40.3 pounds. I am married to a wonderful man named John and we have two teenage daughters(16 & 14 yrs) and a 2 year old Miniature Doxie named Tucker- he suffers from a Napoleonic complex, he thinks he's a Rotweiler:lol0:. I'm a stay at home mom with an LPN and now a college student(as of last fall). I have been overweight most of my life. My battle began at age 10, my mother felt I was getting too heavy and because I was too young to attend Weight Watchers, she'd make me follow her plan at home. She officially enrolled me in WW when I turned 12. I've been fighting my weight ever since- never losing more than 20 pounds each time I joined(I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been a WW member). I'd get frustrated and quit and end up starting all over again. The smallest I have ever been in my adult life was while I was pregnant with our first daughter- I hurled so much that I lost 48 pounds and by the end of the pregnancy I only gained 15 of it back. Once my baby came home from the hospital(she had to stay an extra 2 weeks), I began to eat. By the time she was 15 months old, I was pregnant again. I lost 46 pounds with her- same issue-Dr.'s discovered gall stones) but in this case, I gained that back plus some and never looked back. Of course over the years, I tried every diet that anyone breathed. WW's countless times, different weightloss companies and every "homemade" diet you could think of(cabbage Soup and grapefruit to name a couple). I turned 40 years old last year and I refuse to allow my weight to stop me from living any longer. I knew if I kept going, I wouldn't be alive to see my future grandchildren(very distant future grandchildren:laugh0:). I am so grateful that this website was developed for the "Sleevers". It's nice to see others lose weight due to their surgeries, but sometimes it can be a bit disconcerting watching all the RNY'ers and DS'ers lose so much faster and honestly, our experiences are different. So, I guess I'm just glad to be here.

Thanks for "listening",

Adrienne

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
