Thats so cool that you both have each other to help in this journey! You know what he's going thru and visea versa!

Yep........ a Keeper!! ( he got any brothers?? LOL ):lol0:

Nope no brothers - sorry Chancie! It is nice though since we're going through this together - it's a learning experience for both of us - and interesting to see how some things work for one, but not the other ... it's nice to have support so close to home that is for sure.

Are any of you thinking of doing this before one year of surgery? I have been told to wait to see how my skin shapes up, give my body a chance to naturally come back as much as it is going to. What advice are you all getting? AND what about surgery likeTT in Mexico?

I won't have anything done until after we have baby #2.

Breast augmentation/implants will definitely be done.

Tummy tuck will definitely be done as well.

Our insurance is tricky. I know of several women who have both procedures covered after weightloss surgery. I even know several female military members that have breast implants paid for because they claim mental defect from being flat chested.

Our insurance requires lots of documentation, and mental health to get the plastics covered, but it is possible.

Any plastic surgery for me is at least 2+ years away.

I'm kinda with Tiff on this one.... gonna wait and see where I am at in 3 months- not sure if I will make "goal" but am trying to.

( am 9 months out on the 9th of Nov. )

I think I will probably wait another year- gonna talk to my surgen when I see him next month and get his opinion on the subject.

I'm about 4 months out and I'm already thinking of plastics...but not until after my husband and I have kids. I'm 32, so maybe for my 40th birthday or something. Long, long time from now! If I could do anything right now, and this is just in a fantasy world, I'd get my upper arms done before anything else! I'd like to wear sleeveless stuff and not have that double wave going on. :001_tongue:

Would someone plese sart chiming in with the surgerys they have had done? How much and where. Like how much did you pay for a TT and where did you get it done. the same for Boobage. and bat wing removal. How about leg lift? Lipo? I want in on a group discount in vegas if you all put one together. I think for me a TT with lipo is gonna be first. (hopefully only) nah who am I kidding. gotta have boobage done too.

I love my girls and am gonna be real sorry to see them go. ~sigh~

Ok..... I'm 9 months out and I go for my 9 month check up tomorrow with my surgen....

I'm starting the "research" process now. I still have 50 pounds to lose, and I have been saving, but wanting to get some surgens in line.

I know my insurance won't cover this, so I have started saving the past year.

But I want some "Figures" and procedure info. Like I stated before, I THOUGHT it would be "the girls" first, but I want legs and stomach done first. Mainly stomach... so tomorrow when I go for my check up I'm gonna see what my doc says, how long I should wait, etc.

I guess it's becoming more of a reality to me now, just like the weight loss surgery itself, I NEVER dreamed I would be where I am today, just 9 months out.

Will this make me happy? I dunno...... but I do know I have ALWAYS wanted a flat stomach....... even when I was thin, I had a poochy belly, so I'm at least going to look into prices etc. since this is more cosmetic,

gonna weigh ( excuse the pun/not intended) all the pro's and cons- and weather I want to spend the money or not.

Not meaning to be a philosopher or anything, but I don't think any amount of cosmetic surgery can bring happiness...it just might us feel better about ourselves...my personal thought is we need to be happy before we have any fixin up done...then we will just be more happy. Some people are never happy and any amount of change or good fortune cannot make them be any different. I'm sure we all know some people like that...sad to say.

It may sound strange, but I did not think of myself as fat until the last several years when my weight began to interfere with my activity. As long as I could keep on doing what I wanted to do I was ok with it. If asked my weight I would alway say, without thinking, 160...then I'd realize it was really 260...it's a part of the subconscious denial process I guess. I just kept perceiving myself as the 160 pounder...honestly. It is wierd. I always "carried my weight well" until this past year...and when that changed, I began to face reality. (an early grave if I did not find a way to fix this problem).

One of my physicians suggested bariatric surgery and I said "no thanks". But I am grateful that he put that "bug in my ear". I began doing some research, found this forum, and the rest is a very happy history.

What a diversion from the cosmetic surgery discussion...anyway, just thinking out loud with my friends here. Thanks for listening.

Once I have my surgery and I get to my goal and remain there for about a year, I'll consider Plastic Surgery. Until then, I told my hubby that I'll just tuck my boobs in my pants when I jog. lol

Cajun, my doctor put the bug in my ear back in October. I'm so glad she did! I feel like I'm getting ready for the biggest event of my life (other than my son of course).

It's interesting to read the plastics thread here. Earlier today I was playing in the mirror and thinking how much I'd like a facelift when I've lost my weight. At 59, my skin has gone through a lot of changes. I'd love to look in the mirror and like what I see. Of course, that may happen without the surgery. I love my body today because it takes me through my day and works very well, but I can see loving it even better with the perky breasts I've never had. :drool5:

Hopefully my height will stretch the skin across my body as i loss. . hahahaha. . . just a lightening of the discussion. . . i don't think i will have plastic surgery. . . i've had too many surgeries, this one told me it won't be happening again. . . my veins can't handle a IV anymore so with this surgery i needed a central line and even with that, the anesthesiologist had a terrible time getting it started, had to stick me 8 times before he got it. . .now that is scary. . . that really opened my eyes. . the body can only handle so much stress. . . i'm just thankful that this was the surgery i chose as my last. . . . the loose skin will just be a reminder . . . i'll duck tape it somewhere! hahaha

Cajun-

I appreciate you're reply- and I do agree.... to an extent. I am VERY happy with my weight loss, and if I can't have the TT- I will be ok...... but it is a personnal decision for each and everyone of us.

Like I said... I dunno if it will make me "happy"... but I will be more comfortable in my own skin ( another pun - unintented )

I went shopping yesterday- and at 193 pounds now........ I am in a size 12...... when I was 180 before.. I was at least a 16!! My g/f is amazed as am I.. my legs are SKINNY!! I have no "BUM"....... but carry it all in my wiast and loswer belly. I have gone froma 59 waist to a 38........ what is a "NORMAL" waist??? I dunno.........

I also understand what you meant about the denial. I was definitly there too. I still want to put down...... 293 Instead of the 193

ALOT of this is a "mental thing"

But.........When trying on clothes..... and my belly is bigger than my butt........... it IS physical!

Creatinglee-

As far as the face lift ect......... I am ok with what I see in the mirror.. but we all have our "demons"...... My belly is mine. I have "good" skin........... it is a bit thicker..... I didn't get the "Turkey Neck" associated with weight loss......... I am very greatful for that!! but my cheeks are sagging a bit.. and would consider a face lift as well........ but for me.. thats purely cosmetic...... but my belly to me isn't...... ( IF that makes any sence watsoever!! )

So we will see where we all are in another year........ I hope we are all here, and not lose track of each other to be able to discuss where we are in our Journeys!!

Chancie, you are in a size 12! That is such a big deal! I am sooooo happy for you. Your stomach issue may lessen some as more time goes by and your body catches up with the rapid weight loss. Until then, powder~n~girdle it. hahaha

Thin one day: that is what long sleeves are for. And long pants. lol I so wanna wear sleeveless shirts this summer. I do not REALLY think that is gonna happen with out additional surgery ( that I am not having)But, I am working the weights and hoping for the best. I will not give up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
