Your operation will be in the abdominal cavity and the IUD is the pelvic cavity so you have nothing to worry about.

LOL...I know that, I was talking about how it seems to mess with peoples TOM. I don't want that to all the sudden get messed up, especially since that is why I have the IUD.

Female hormones are stored in fat cells. Your periods can change. Let's cross our fingers that it does not. ;o)

i know the whole first year of being banded......i had a period every 2-3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i was making up for years of having one or two! My OB said it was a reaction to the estrogen loss from the fat cell. He told me this happens a lot in women and in almost all his pcos clients that had any type of bariatric surgery

My first TOM after surgery was late, but then I was okay. Recently, I've been having breakthrough bleeding and I think my TOM is coming more often. But I don't keep track well enough to be sure. I guess I need to start paying attention.

Not sure if this is where I should post, but it's kinda related. My whole life, my TOM has come on the 5th of the month. It stopped during pregnancies, then picked right up in the same pattern. Got kind of wonky for about 6 months when I was 28, then back to the same old, same old. I had a partial (uterine) hysterectomy in 2001. After that, I never noticed any of the PMS-type symptoms (emotional, bloating, etc.)

Last week, I actually gained 1.5 pounds, felt like sh*t (had that FAT feeling), and felt general malaise. Is it possible that losing the weight made my hormones kick it up a notch? Between Friday and Monday, I lost 4 pounds - that NEVER happens! And it's stayed off; in fact, I've lost two more this week so far. Feels like it used to when I bloated so bad just before the 5th, then when the actual TOM started it would go away.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm hoping this doesn't mean the Migraines will come back!

Estrogen is stored in your fat. When you lose weight, it gets released into the blood stream and then (eventually) eliminated. So, yeah, your hormones are going nuts right now!

Some female hormones are stored in fat cells and when you start burning fat, guess what happens? ;o)

Some have more PMSy kinds of symptoms, some have less.

I'm in the lucky group. Heh...

I knew about the fat storage thing. I think I just expected it before now. I don't know why; just not thinking it through, I guess. Makes sense that it's stored in ALL the fat, not just that top layer. Silly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
